    Prontohost = Thieves

First, happy holidays to you all. Hope you will all be safe and enjoy it as much as I do.

    Now,

It has recently come to our attention that prontohost copied images from our website (made by me) and are using them in their new design. This is not the first time they do this as they seem to never come up with original content.

The stylesheet also contains our CSS codes. This should be a warning to anyone and everyone considering this host. People making profit on the hard work of others isn't a way to go and definitely raises questions about the ethics of this company.

To back-up my claim, the content can be found here:

    ORIGINAL:
    http://steadcom.com/global.css
    http://steadcom.com/images/menubg.png
    http://steadcom.com/images/menubg_hover.png

    Infringing:
    http://prontohost.net/v2/css/stylesheet.css (Copied the menu codes)
    http://prontohost.net/v2/images/menubg.png (Copied the menu image)
http://prontohost.net/v2/images/menubg_hover.png (Copied the menu hover image)

Of course, a DMCA notice has been sent to both themselves and their provider however I thought it was necessary for the WHT to know as PH-Kev (The prontohost owner) is also a member of this forum.

Not a fun way to spend a Christmas day however I do thank everyone reading this for taking the time.

    Best wishes.

The site now appears to be on design 'v3', which doesn't seem to use your material. I take it this is the result of your complaint?

Now we just need to wait for the host to blame the 'graphic designers' to absolve their responsibility. Not that the graphic designers exist in most cases I imagine.

Thanks for sending everyone a copy of your stylesheet where everyone can now copy and use it.

As if it's not hard to find/access it in the first place?

A stylesheet is not something that is hidden for your information. Anyone and everyone can find it by looking at the source code

Yes. We have contacted their datacenter which has opened an abuse ticket with them. However at this point they are still using it. We will see where it leads, would not be nice to have to pay a plane ticket to Florida for the new year.

And if he didn't post the domain this entire topic would have no credibility...

I never said it was, i said since the link is posted to the stylesheet everyone can download it now. Who said anything about it being hidden or impossible to download if you know the domain name. Amazing, all these people who are just out to start a flame war.

Looks like v3 is using the same thing...

What a shame, really. I hope you can get this resolved.

I'm sorry a host has to resort to that. There are so many free templates out their and very cheap templates to buy here on WHT so it really shows a lot they have to resort to that.

The owner, Kevin is playing smart and put the original template back asking us what is infringing. I will not get into any games with him any further. I said what I had to say, and gave him a time line. Either way, we will get him to remove it whether it is nicely or through a court system.

    Not to mention the name

PRONTOHOST will for ever be disgraced here on Webhostingtalk and anyone searching Google.

Lets give him some nice keywords for easy search results

    Pronto Host
    Pronto-Host
    "pronto host"

Why anyone would resort to stealing someone else's site is beyond me. There are plenty of templates for sale for someone just getting into the business.

This host is refusing to cooperate. We have now forwarded all this to our legal department. Please close this topic.

Anyone reading this, beware of prontohost. Unethical and childish actions are governing their business.
