If You Were In Charge of WHT

...what would you do? What changes would you make? Who would your admins be?

    Have fun with it

I do not know whether its appropriate to discuss, anyway everything is for fun.

So lets imagine i am the owner of WHT. My new Admins would be

    1. Vinsar
    2. Brian [ i do not rem your new ID]
    3. RajanUrs
    4. Outlaw Web Master
    5. Unity

These are some people here in WHT whom i have some high respect for their post and thoughts.

    Changes

Try to bring columns where members can write articles.
A blog where Admins can talk about any changes.
Make the Offers Forum into paid ones.

Create a seperate forum for reviews with rating options and many other bundled features.
Change the present rules of social issues forum to old

    Regards.

If I were in charge of WHT, here are the admins I would choose:

    Outlaw Web Master
    ub3r
    Nick H

After doing this I would charge everyone a dollar a post

I would route all monies to my bank account... all bills as well....

Keep all the current mods... heck, they do a fine job...

I would ask The PM to start back doing the "free website" building studies he had going on a while back.... that was truly awesome.

I would open a "mobile" hosting section of the forum devoted to mobile hosting, mobile phones, etc....

Depending on money flow, I might look into having web hosting providers to pay an annual fee to post. No more than $50. But I would kill the "link" advertising that new people see when they have not registered. Clean that up a bit.

I would open another section devoted to Q&A for web hosting providers (in their own subforums). Well, the ones that would join.

Product more newsletters, and info on the industry...

And some other stuff... I'd have to think about it more....

I would rule it the way I wanted to. I'd keep the original admins they have now, because they do a good job. I wouldn't add anyone else as admin, unless they were a long time user joined.

I'd warn once, then ban the idiots who post what other people have posted in the same thread.

I would edit posts made within under 15 minutes within each other by the same user and add both posts to the one to stop people getting there post out. But it will be void because I'd get rid of post count all together.

I wouldn't let hosts with very a very bad past advertise anywhere on the forum.

    I'd do a lot more.

I'd also get rid of signatures, I'd only allow admins and very good reputation people have them.

    Too much to list.

I'd probably stop registrations for some time too.

I'm too biased to properly lead a forum anyway.

That kind of defeats the purpose of the hosts providing their own forums for a means of Q&A...

that is why I said "the ones that would join." Also would depend on which ones I let in as well... would not have 100s of companies... certain ones... maybe even tied to a payment system.... all depends... just throwing stuff out there.

    How about this one:

I'd ban all Premium members... No more "upper class" status elitist attitude... I’ll actually do them a favor… this way they can go forum their own forum….

    lets see..

    1. Webhost Verification System (verify actual company for a fee)
    2. Verified members blog.. Members that are verified hosts can post industry news and tips. (Moderated slashdot style)
    3. Charge a small fee for posts in the offers forums
    4. Setup a Credit system where verified hosts are rewarded with credits to use in the offers forums when they are published in the blog (see 2)
    5. WHT Live! Start an internet talk show with audience participation from the IRC channel.. Prizes from show sponsors, etc..

Thats just the tip of the iceburg...

I'd make some very positive changes, but I cant explain them because they are too technical for the most of ya, and would only serve to have SWR scratching his head thinking "WTF did Webdude just say??"

...alright, who was the smartazz who changed the smileys???
I got like a jumping jack santa up there now.. at least put Mrs Smiley Santa under him, sheesh..

I believe his suggestions is still in rough draft stage.

BTW, if I am in charge of WHT, I would:

    1. Introduce a request forum, where only premium members can reply to it.
    2. Charge all advertising signatures for commercial purposes with a fee.
    3. Limit new membership.
    4. Have more mods to keep WHT clean and tidy.
    5. Cancel the policy where premium members have 2X post.
    6. Create more privileges for premium members, especially the offer forum.
    7. Create WHT$. It can be used as an alternative to U$. However, a 100 post = WHT$1, and a U$2 = WHT$1. People can buy WHT$1 using real world money and use it to pay for premium memberships, signature fees, etc.
    8. etc etc etc...
