Possible to apply .htaccess to only one folder?

Is it possible to get the .htaccess file to apply to only one folder? As in if we stick it in the public_html/ folder, how can we prevent those rules from being applied to all the folders in public_html/ folder?

place it only in the folder you want it to apply too and it'll do what you want.

/home/public_html/.htaccess = will apply to all folders under public_html

    /home/public_html/images/.htacess = will apply only to /images

Yes, the problem if you did not understand.

The .htaccess file is under public_html and we only want it to apply to the files in public_html, no other folders under public_html/

Are you placing any rewrite rules inside the .htaccess?
