Time Magazine's Person of the Year 2007 - Vladimir Putin

    http://www.time.com/time/specials/20...690766,00.html

Putin has said that next spring, at the end of his second term as President, he will assume the nominally lesser role of Prime Minister. In fact, having nominated his loyal former chief of staff (and current Deputy Prime Minister) Dmitri Medvedev to succeed him as President, Putin will surely remain the supreme leader, master of Russia's destiny, which will allow him to complete the job he started.

Good article... I'm a bit surprised though... thought it would have been Rollins, iPhone, or even Jobs himself....

It's strange how people start to think Putin's a decent person considering he was head of the KGB

He's definitely one to watch for sure.

Now with Russia supplying Iran with their Uranium it adds a little more flavour to the Iran nuke equasion.

I think we will start to see Putin's angle a little after next spring after he takes the back seat cough* cough*

    I don't think a leopard can change it's spots.

This is not to say that Putin's not the best leader Russia has to offer but just to say keep a watchful eye.

He's not the most loved Russian by Russian people.

We in the West tend to view Putin negatively. But there seems to be much indication that Russians like him and his policies.

Putin has been credited with greatly improving the Russian standard of living (see the long-time WSJ coverage on this), and -- for better or worse -- he has made Russia once again a (major?) player in international politics.

Putin is a real patriot. Compared to little monkey brains, Bush, he's like God to an entire nation.

Putin ??? Time magazine circulation must be really low in Russia

I think Aun San Suki, the courageous lady with steely determination fighting for freedom of Mayanmar [Burma] should have got it...especially now because of the clashes between the ruling military junta and the Buddhist monks.
