Does international wire transfer take this long?

I got in on a good deal here on a dedicated server in europe a month ago. Since it is more of an experimental box I didn't need the machine right away.

I was asked to wire transfer the first payment thru a bank. Not a problem for me, but now a month later, I am at a loss as to why it has taken this long.

My bank informed me that a wire transfer could take UP to 6 weeks. Since I sent it on the 13th of last month, I'm at about 4 weeks+ here and will have to wait.

I don't mind waiting but as I'm free now and have time to do stuff, I'm starting to get a bit antsy.

So I'm wondering if this kind of wait is normal for the rest of you guys here.

I sent the money in euro BTW and the bank person told me that it would have to go thru an extra bank for that which might extend the wait.. I just didn't think it would be THIS long.

6 weeks? I think thats a little long. I've done a few wire transfers here and there, mainly personal crap, but it's the same day, even instant on occasions. It should go through within 5 working days MAX. Asked your bank why?

Sounds like something is wrong.

Can you call the recipient bank and see if the funds were received? The answer to that should help you determine the next step.

I did ask them. They tell me that there is nothing they can do as it is out of the country. Is that even a good answer?

One of them told me it took 10 days for her to wire to Mexico so I'm assuming that although within the US it is very fast, international wires are much longer.

This is going to be a problem as it is a foreign bank in Poland.

I have the address but not sure how to get their phone #.. and if I do what am I suppose to ask? Do I just give my name?

You can probably look up the telephone number through Google. Once you call, provide your name; recipient account name or recipient account number; transfer amount; and any wire transfer tracking number you may have been provided by your bank. This is inconvenient, but it may be the best way. If you need assistance, please feel free to PM me.

Forgive me for asking, but have you considered that you may have been scammed? An international wire transfer to Poland sounds suspicious, at least on the surface. Have you had any contact, positive or negative, with the company since you sent the funds?

Hi Mike

I seriously doubt I got scammed. I'll send you a PM.

And yes I've been in constant contact with their sales person.

If its EU to EU, it should not take more than 3 days. I have never seen a wire transfer taking more than 1 weeks actually.

Banks need to compete with faster online alternatives, so the era of slow transfers has ended a long time ago.

May I ask you where your payment came from? Poland probably does not have the most advanced/modern banks, so the delay might be due to that

Payment is from my local Banner bank here in Washington state, US.

I just realize its almost 10pm in Poland so I don't think I will make a call. Plus they probably close on sunday too which means I'll have to wait til monday morning here to do it.

The wire should only take 10 business days at the most from my experience.

Hello,

Wires within EU take around 3 business days to arrive.

If it is from the US it might take longer. One of my clients has sent me a wire also some 10days ago and I am still waiting for the money to hit my bank account.

On the other hand one of my other clients sent me a wire and it arrived on my account within 1 day. The currrecy date was much shorter but he had to pay some premium for this I guess.

Best regards.
