What kind of spec are you after? Hardware? Transfer etc. What kind of budget are you looking at?

It really depends on whether you want to go for a low end unmanaged solution (perfect if you know your way around a linux server and know exactly what you want) or whether you'd prefer a managed solution where security and the like are managed for you. And then it depends on your budget as to what is the best option for you.

You should go for a managed hosting solution if your business is depending on the availability of your web site.
Treat it like the rental of a shop unit.
Its just as important.

Talking

You might want to check the dedicated server offers section here:

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=36

Be sure to check the Service Level, Management Level and hardware/software specifications of each offer and if they come close to your requirements

And as well as the questions above, consider providers who have in-depth knowledge of your preferred OS (do you want a Linux or Windows box?), do you need RAID, how much storage space? What are your database requirements, MySql/SQL Server (this can affect the amount of RAM you need etc)?

Lots of things to ask, but if you contact a host make sure they discuss your requirements rather than offering you one of their off-the-shelf solutions with no knowledge of what you need - there are plenty which do that, but also plenty who will take time to make sure you get something perfectly suited to your current needs.

Best of luck,
Kris

Why is that? They just look like yet another provider on the Bluesquare Poundhost network to me...

GBServers hand build the servers which they put in their racks and their support is excellent. From most dedicated server providers, they offer the client full support and will resolve technical issues as quick as they can.

Kindest Regards,
Jason S

I sure hope they know what they're doing. I've seen 100 times more problems with home-made servers than with brand names in my 4 years as an ISP

Mmm.. shiny HP, Dell & IBM boxes allways prefer those to "host what you brung" type boxes.

Course it allways comes down to cost, but I'll jump into bed with a brand name any day. Silent night as they say!
