checking VPS RAM - OpenVZ

I am looking at a VPS of one friend, using OpenVZ. It has 256MB RAM, but it always goes down, and the host asks my friend to upgrade to larger RAM. I have read that if UBC setting is too low, the VPS could not use all allocated RAM, not sure if it's correctly or not, but is there anyway to check?

This is some info
Code:

You seem to have a large fail count in the parameter

-----
privvmpages 44283 67474 65536 65536 80900195
--------

The last value is the fail count.

The value 65536 (barrier) is your assigned RAM and it turns out to be 256 MB (65536*4/1024) . Your freind's host is correct regarding th memory usage

Is your friend running any programs that are causing a resource problem? Has he tried to optimize his apache file?

nothing intensive. I just optimized his apache and mysql, and the vps ran out of memory few minutes later, even I am sure no one access to the site at that time

Make sure your VPS is not DOSed or is caused by some vulnerable applications.

Also check other services running for instance if you have a control panel or backup's running.

If you are running MySQL make sure to optimize that sucker.

It looks like your host has plenty of room on the parent server, but your friend is simply maxing his limits. It may be time to upgrade if you can't control the services/traffic to the site.

The suggestion above is a good thing to check for also.
