    help with ups pleeeeeeeeese

    Horror story:
We purchased a $250 peice of hardware off ebay (sell had > 2000 good reviews)

It arrives, doesnt work right. Guy tells us to send back and hell ship us a new one.

We send it back, ups delivers and says "left behind bush" infront of the house. The person never got it (he does have a bush infront of his house and the address is correct)

    What can I do?

Please give me some good news someone....

    Thanks

Well, if you insured the package then claim it against UPS... althou my guess is you sent it without a signature required which means they can leave it anywhere and it probabbly got stolen....

So I hope you insured it otherwise your kinda SOL....

If you didn't get insurance or request the receiver to sign then I don't know that there is much you would be able to do.

If the person says he never got it and you don't have any proof to say otherwise, then there is nothing you can do. Somebody could have seen the UPS person leave the package behind the bush and taken it - the recipient could indeed be telling the truth that he never got it.

Unfortunately you may have to use it as a valuable lesson for in the future.

Yeah ok but there must be SOMETHING one can do... insured or not. UPS cannot just "leave" a package somewhere. I mean with the same philosophy he could have left it directly in the middle of the road before the house... I mean wtf? Even here in Greece such stuff doesn't happen...

Even if you insure a package. Once, it's delivered UPS isn't responsible.

If you ever read one of those slips that authorizes them to leave a package, it says right on there.

I do not ship anything UPS after the story that I was told on how the packages are handled. 10' drop into a bin, no thanx. Insurance cover it, nope because you have to double box peanut it to death and package it into a ton of foam so it can survive the abuse it's put through. Though the hard drive might be a tad shaken up and the rest of the contents. I voted to go United State Postal Service. Cheaper, more reliable and guaranteed insurance without the hassle of fighting about how well I packaged it beyond normal to survive the abuse. Not to mention they don't leave things at your doorstep, just a note in the mailbox letting you know it needs to be picked up if it doesn't fit in your mailbox. Good luck on the strugle with UPS it's going to be a long one.

Might I suggest Fedex for next time. I always use them, and I have never been dissapointed.

Well, some bad news and some good news.

Bad news is, it was actually a $450 peice of hardware - looking up my records and realizing that - made me want to cry again

Good news is ups is putting a trace on it, if they cant do anythign within 8 days they will contact us with re-imperstment information

i was under the impression that UPS ground was automatically insured, to what amount i am unaware.

    yup.

    Responsibility for Loss or Damage
Each UPS package shipped domestically, or international shipment, is automatically protected by UPS against loss or damage up to a value of $100 (U.S.). Unless a greater value is recorded in the insured value field of the UPS source document or the UPS shipping system used, the shipper agrees that the released value of each package shipped domestically, or international shipment, is no greater than $100 (U.S.), which is a reasonable value under the circumstances surrounding the transportation.

UPS's maximum liability per package shipped domestically, or international shipment, shall not exceed $100 (U.S.), regardless of the purchase of insurance for protection in excess of $100 (U.S.). If additional protection is desired, a shipper may purchase insurance for amounts in excess of $100 (U.S.) by showing the full value in the insured value field of the UPS source document or the UPS shipping system used. An insurance premium, as established by the insurer of the shipment, will be assessed for each additional $100 (U.S.), or fraction thereof, of insured value in excess of $100 (U.S.) up to the Limits of Insurance, and the shipper will be automatically covered as an additional insured under a shipper's interest insurance policy issued to UPS as the named insured, provided the shipper pays the additional charge. Insurance is not provided for UPS Prepaid Letters.

    I hate being stupid...

Anyway... according to our books, we did insure it for 400 - however the first ups person told me it was not insured, but since we have a daily pickup account, the manager told me its according to our books and they dont have it on our records, so we basically have it insured for 400. Thats still a 75 loss but better than a 475 lost. but before i found this out, iput a complaint in with paypal for the 475, if that goes through, well i have made a profit But i would feel bad and return the difference

    Thanks for your help
