Hi all,
I am in search of windows host supporting .net 2.0 and sql 2005 and atleast 2 domains (3 will be good). I need around 3 gb space and 20gb bandwidth is enough. My maximum I have checked the offers section and other posts here and below are the shortlisted hosts:
discountasp
eukhosts
appliedi
exabytes
Can someone who's using them give a suggestion/feedback or else can suggest one?
thanks,

hi
do you have a set budget in mind? also are these 2 features all you need?
you should think ahead too, ask yourself do you think you will need X number of databases or an Enhanced antispam etc.

Hi CyberHostPro,
Budget is around $10-$15/mon and these two are the main features..down the roads I may need more than 1 database..and Enhanced antispam is definitely a plus..
thanks,

I wish I could make personal suggestion, but I work for one of the companies on your list.
I mean no offense to the other hosts, I'm sure they are fine, but I would consider our real competition DiscountASP out of all the hosts you listed. I would probably add CrystalTech to that list too, but would put DiscountASP ahead of them.
Good luck,
Wayne

Thanks Wayne... I have found a host softsyshosting in asp.net forums and have a test account setup with them for 7 days... for now, it seems really good in both performance and support..
However, I would like to know your 'personal suggestion'..can you pm me if its allowed in these forums?
Thanks again,
James

I have found both Crystaltech and Discountasp to be really good for most of my clients sites. They both have very knowledgeable staff which keeps the servers online, the latest technologies available, and all my technical questions answered.
Hopefully one of them can fill your needs.

The guys at softsyshosting.com are really doing a great job. Its over a month that I've signed up with them and they have been pretty good. Good server speed, sound and fast support, latest technologies available... what else do we need?

I can recommend Applied Innovations. I have 15+ .NET/SQL2005 sites with them and it has been smooth sailing for over 14 months

Yes.....applied innovations......
From both seeing Ironbox's reply, and from another post I happened to come across (from someone at applied innovations), I decided to look them up. I browsed thru the T&C. I think there should be a sticky about looking at T&C's. May truncate, if not obviate the constantly recurring: "can anyone recommend a host?"
If I am looking, or just want to check out a host, I always look at their T&C (TOS). I don't know about anyone else, but I get a far better 'impression' about a host or service by looking there than I do at their sales pitch. With the sales pitch you get what 'they' are wanting you to see. With T&C, you get a far better insight into what they are REALLY like - i.e where they place their priorites.
For example look at "terms of use" as Applied Innovations calls it. I notice that the first thing they discuss, and spend a fair amount of space on is "termination policy and payment". Others may not notice this at all, but it indicates their priorities. As I said, others may not notice, or may even think that it is ok; and I am not saying definitively that it is or it isn't. It is just what came to my attention.
They also state that data is required to be 'server-ready'. I have a fair idea what that means, but I don't know exactly what they mean. I did try to email them using their form to ask them, but the form kept asking me for a "company name", even though it was not a "required field". When I put one in, it kept asking me to enter the "image text", which I did 6 times, but it still kept asking for the image text. Am I supposed to cut and paste it? ......thinks now
This is part of my point. They go into great detail about all their conditions and restrictions on what you are liable for, and what you can't do, yet it is either not possible, or at least very difficult - see their 'support page' where you have to join, then raise a ticket to ask a few sales questions - to contact them. I have no experience in using them, but if you are looking for a host, as many frequently ask about on these forums, and when there are so many from which to choose, why would anyone consider one that makes it such an obstacle course?
If you persist and make it to the top of the mountain, you get to choose them - whoever 'they' may be - as a host. Wow! We should be so lucky.
As I said I don't know what the situation is at 'applied', or what they are like as hosts, but if I am looking, I would be saying .... NEXT! To show that I am not simply 'picking on' applied innovations, I also had a look at the T&C for "1and1" - was thinking about them as a domain registrar, as someone suggested in one of these forums. How long is their T&C???
You need to hire someone to read it for you and give you a synopsis of what it says.
NEXT.....
Regards

I would say a thorough TOS basically reflects that the company has had a lot of idiot clients who have caused all sorts of problems - mainly through offering cheap hosting plans.
