Barebones linux versus control panels (ensim, cpanel, etc)
gonna go colo and not sure if I want to add that overhead on my comp...I am not a reseller, just my own sites...linux is easy to use without the shell programs like ensim..
which would you seasoned pros feel better using..? stick with the panels or go barebones?

I usually go barebone, but it takes like 2-4 hours to set up core structures/configs/scripts for easy ongoing maintenance. If you've done it before and there will be no other users of that server - there are no need for the panel.

Might as well go barebone for your own sites. Maybe install tightvnc or something for easy remote access, not really a need for much else. Of course this is assuming you're used to ssh a bit.

I would go barebones. On my own server, I just wrote a series of shell scripts to automate/simplify the adding of sites, e-mail accounts, etc.
