Requests Forum [merged]
Should WHT make a forum just for requests?
They keep appearing in the dedicated server and VPS forums and it's annoying just to see them pop up.
Can we just put a halt to that and make a request forum, please? It's just clutter, and I would like to keep the ridiculous () requests out of the dedicated server and VPS forums.
EDIT: Look at the guy roll off of the sides!
EDIT II: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=650062
Prime example right there, people like me reply, and it's just a cheap post count boost. We reply like broken records about how their budgets are no good, how hosts can't make offers, etc.AS3955580

They will still post in the main forums like they did when we had a request forum

So what? It'll still keep it out of those other forums.
Don't put it under main forums, put it in the market place area or something. I really don't like those threads and I reply in them anyway just to keep busy.
I'm sure a place could be found that would do; do a lot better than the forums it's put in now.AS3955580

My vote, no.
Some of us still acknowledge WHT as a web hosting driven community -- to discuss web hosting, not a single point of sales. Your signature and post content have enough impact on whether or not people decide to visit your website.
If we create a requests forum, we'll see the same hosts replying with the "we have a package to suite your requirements" in every thread. That's how it is in the employement and design forums already; a web hosting requests forum would just make it that much more worse.0

Put my vote in for no. To me the responses people would get would be more of a waste of time than anything else.

i say yes, if a user asks for offers, hosts should be allowed to present them.

Had to vote no. I still remember clearly how many hosts would respond with cookie cutter replies that didn't match the request. It was a mess for the mods to clean up. I still see that happening on a daily basis at forums that allow requests.
The only way I would change my vote would be if the forum was for Premium members to reply only.If you have to operate your company behind the scenes or under a fake name, maybe it's time to leave the industry and start something fresh.0

I voted yes, but I think it should be for premium members to reply only, as they pay for WHT, while we use it free. It is only fair to them.

I voted NO
I think we had it on WHT and it just became a fish market.

It would be a clutter and make the board untidier having a requests forum only for numpties to keep posting requests in the main forums.
Although Dougy...in theory you are correct.

I like the idea others have suggested where only Premium Members could respond to threads in a Web hosting request forum. However, that may compete with the "Find a Host" feature so I don't think it would happen.

it's done on Dutch WHT and like 30% of the threads are snipped, closed, edited etc. You want hosting? you search for it! So my vote: NO

Another NO here.
I know how standard the replies will get after a short time.
Request:
I need 100 MB space and 5 GB monthly traffic for under 20$ per year.
We can meet your requirements. Please contact us at

We need a load balanced and clustered solution that spreads over different locations (datacenters) and at least three servers in each datacenter. DNS failover should be set up and load balancers should provide output based failover checking and session routing. The whole system must be 24/7/365 proactively monitored and managed, and must provide 100% uptime. Our budget is slightly under $5000/mo and we expect to make a written contract prior to payment.
