There's actually no limit to them, because there's no authority that defines them. A few years ago, for example, there was a trend in big IT corporations toward naming a "CKO" -- Chief Knowledge Officer.

Such titles are often used as honorifics for top employees (sort of the equivalent in a law firm to naming someone a "junior partner") but the idea behind them, the reason behind the nomenclature, is that the person is named as an officer of the corporation. So it wouldn't be really "technically" appropriate to call any sysadmin a "CTO" -- although, again, you can call anybody anything you want to within your business.

    Ahem, that's MCTSE

    Microsoft Certified Toilet System Engineer

Seattle - August 8 2002 AP: Microsoft founder and chairman Bill Gates today announced the acquisition of all sewage lines in the United States, Canada and Europe, and the formation of an new and elite group of partner-trained technical wizards known as Microsoft Certified Toilet System Engineers (MCTSE) who will be responsible for all aspects of toilet system installation, maintenance and upgrades.

Dubbed the Microsoft Sewage Network, or MSN, Mr. Gates told a sold out crowd of crotch-grabbing - hopping on one foot and then the other - reporters that Microsoft plans to license access to the Microsoft Sewage Network on a pay for use basis.

Ironically, during a demonstration of the new Microsoft Sewage Network, all the toilets at Microsoft's Redmond WA headquarters 'crashed' with the now-infamous 'Blue Flush of Death' - computer talk for a massive failure to function - and the well lubricated press corps were left stranded and horribly uncomfortable with no outlet for their waste.

Steve Ballmer, CEO of the high tech firm, attempted to placate the assembled press with an offer of an upgrade to version 1.1 of Microsoft Sewage Network , being hurriedly rushed through Sewage Quality Assurance even as the press conference continued to take a savage turn for the worse.

Asked to comment on the events of the day, Sun Microsystems chairman Scott McNeally said "well, we always knew their product planning and quality control was the sh*ts".
“Even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under
considerable economic stress at this period in history.”
