How do you know this? Did a moderator of that forum tell you?

I see just as much pro-active moderation in SI as I do in other forums. We've always tried to allow members to voice their concerns.

First there's "almost zero pro-active moderation", now there's none. Make up our minds.

Right. You don't know. So I'm having a hard time figuring out how you're presenting these facts.

And others want to see less. Thanks for your vote for more.

    What, exactly, isn't working?

    Or less.

Or no social issues anywhere on the forum.

    Or . . . something nobody's mentioned yet.
hmm...I seemed to have missed this HaveaGoAtTheModathon...

I think the all round modding in here to top drawer ( 1st Class)...but heck what would I know I've never ran a forum in my life hmmm...well not the kind folks in here would like to know of

Several Norwegians joined just to vote YES in this thread?

WOW! Norwegians, huh! Who would have thought that?!
    Thumbs up to Norway

Or was this a hidden hint that Norway could be cheating?

its not viable. mods cant know what is going on in india, south africa or norway and how serious the issues are and what are their merits.
    Try reading what I wrote..

I said I don't participate and rarely read it because it is repetitive. I have every right to vote what I think is right. May not be relevant in your eyes, but it is perfectly relevant and well justified opinion.

    its not viable.
I said new mods, hence those that will know what is going. Not just one mod, notice the plural - mods. Some maybe a subject matter expert..

It's fine by me you voted NO, if I had voted no it would have been because I get bored with saying "Read what I wrote, not what you think I wrote", in the SI forum.

name me just one forum in wht thats not repetitive.

lounge ? "how often do you fart each day" - the next day a new thread ; "how often do you comb your hair each day".

web hosting ? just find one original topic from there as of now.

    same goes for all forums.

so why is it a problem in si forum to find original, exhilarating, exciting threads and not in the others ? is there any forum on the internet that such threads pop up everyday ?

I said new mods, hence those that will know what is going. Not just one mod, notice the plural - mods. Some maybe a subject matter expert..
again, no mod would be expert on india, pakistan, canada, wto, eu, islam, christianity, history, defense industry, * insert random important subject here * and so on, at the same time.

I agree the same topics do arise every now and again, but the social issues form seems to have the same arguments crop up much more frequently. I participate in the lounge often because it is much more diverse.

    I beg to differ.

its a tradeoff. the issues in si are more engaging, but more repetitive. its due to seriousness of the issues.

the stuff in lounge even, are marginally interesting, but they pop up less frequent. so its a tradeoff.

    I beg to differ.
are you proposing that you are or you know an expert on all of the subjects mentioned ?

Can you please read what I write? I don't see how I even implied that.

I said "mods". Not one person is going to be an expert, nor is any expert even necessary. A bunch of people up to date on the news setting a weekly agenda to discuss. They do not need to participate any further. What should be discussed can be easily done by a public vote the prior week. No experts required..

what you are not getting is that, it is impossible for even 10 moderators to wield sufficient group expertise on all, even many of the subjects contained therein si forum.

Seems to be a few members who *think* they are experts on many subjects though
