Europeans, try this download (iMountain)

I keep noticing iMountain popping up on WHT, and am reminded about how good their deals looked. And also how saddened I was to find the connectivity with myself atrocious.

I'm wondering if this is a problem with me or Europe in general. This guy (linked to in iMountain's testimonials) has several .mp3 files for download:

http://www.captainsdead.com/2007/11/...ll-foreigners/

Just scroll down a little and you'll see blue arrows before the download links -- only the first three are hosted by iMountain. Now, is it just me or do these simply refuse to go any faster than about 40kB/s?

Perhaps it'd be worth getting a general metric of this from whoever feels like spending a few seconds of their time doing so. I'm fairly certain that iMountain has a single 1gbps line with RoadRunner, and suspect it simply doesn't have the worldwide connectivity appropriate for a company offering such powerful packages.

It could be that I'm entirely wrong and it's simply a connectivity issue with my ISP, but I've never had download rates this low before. It's so bad that even loading static pages on iMountain feels sluggish due to the images all downloading at a mere 40kB/s.

I find this especially difficult to deal with as I'm on a ~2200kB/s line.

Note that I do have a genuine interest in iMountain and am trying to accomplish nothing here but to help them improve their service, not to smear them or anything like that. I am trying to be entirely positive here.

Edit: Probably better off bumping this in tomorrow afternoon when everyone isn't in bed.

Why not post a traceroute? It's possible the network to you from imountain is just congested. I think they own their datacenter, so I'm not sure about just how resilient their network is.

It could be that the data center works fine, but the server just has an excessive load. For example the server could have only a 10mbps port and the connection is slow because it is overloaded.

As far as I know, the OP is right, IM have only 1 BW provider (RR),

Good call. I'm getting 20kB/s from the links above now, incidentally. It's worth noting that I push 500-800kB/s from most other US hosts, including DownTownHost that I just tried.

Hm, strangely I only get around 50-80KB/s, well under my max 2-3MB/s. I'm in the US.

I'm from Romania and I manage to download at my aprox maximum speed. The upload is not at my max speed but I don't mind.
My main site is for Romanians and I didn't had any complains in the last months with iMountain
