.NET / MS SQL / Unlimited Websites/ 24-7 support
I know you have been asked this request 1000 times. I have read many posts and can't find one that answers all of my questions.
I am looking for a new hosting service. I have tried a few hosting services and for one reason or another I end up disappointed*. Below are my requirements.
- .NET 2.0
- MS-SQL (2000+ of course)
- 24/7 support (chat or phone)
- Unlimited websites
- Ability to dynamically create folders in the root directory (odd request, but this takes GoDaddy out of the picture).
Price: As inexpensive as possible (<$12)
Of course I would also prefer to stay away from the oversold servers hosting 1,000,000,000 sites or 1,000,000,000 databases.
Thank you for all of your help.
* If you want details about my struggles or companies tested let me know.

You will need to up your price. Keep in mind: anything MS has license costs associated with it.

How much space and bandwidth do you need for that budget?

The space isn't much. Today I am using less than 750 Mb and less than 12 Gb of bandwidth. I anticpate it doubling in the near future, but that is still well within the limitations of most of the hosts I have seen.
FYI - Today I am hosting unlimited domains for $10.00 at one place and $6.50 at another. Both of those plans support everything I have described above.

Then why not use those places? What is the reason for looking somewhere else?

Thank you masfenix, but I don't see an option for unlimited sites.

You can create as many sites as you can. go into the control panel and add a domain.
it gets its own stats, you can setup a new mssql or mysql database for it,and its own ftp.
I have 3 running sites (2 in production) and 2 test sites lol

lockrem, you did say you don't want oversold servers. Anything unlimited will result in overselling of some sort or the other...
Most of the time, if you find a host that allows unlimited websites, you'll get unlimited sql etc to go with it.

Karl - There are support or access problems that make me want to leave my existing hosts.
wherrelz - That is a good point, I didn't think about that.
masfenix - What makes the service amazing? Are you referring to the server's uptime and response times or the customer service experience?
What should I expect to pay for the requirements listed above?
What do other site owners do that have 25 sites? Pay for 25 seperate hosting accounts or live with the overselling problems?

Yea there servers uptime is great. Seirously i dont even remember my site going down once. Actually I do, during the summer time when i was up till 3:00 AM, and i found my site down because of maintenance or something.
customer service is awesome. I get a reply within a few hours if its during business times, otherwise i have never had to wait more then 12 hours.

Some providers limit the number of domains per plan to avoid overselling servers, You can look into a reseller account to allow the multi domains.

Waiting a few hours for a replay is not very good support in my book.

lockrem,
If you have the skill or the time to pick up - or you can afford to hire for maintenance - you could consider a VPS. That way you get control of the server and can have whatever you like; within the VPS capacity limitations.
Effectively this is the only way you can have 'as much as you like' - similar to 'unlimited', but you can regulate the limits.
VPSs come for around $25-30 from what I've seen. You can lookup the VPS section of this forum, or just search on google.
