    Anyone read the rules lately?

Has anyone read the rules for this Web Hosting Talk lately?

    Read them here

...and don't post any message that even hints at advertising.
    last time I checked,

    http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumd...p?s=&forumid=4
    and
    http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumd...?s=&forumid=36
    and
    the reply's at
    http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumd...?s=&forumid=32
    and the people posting/replying at
    http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumd...?s=&forumid=33
    and http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumd...?s=&forumid=27
Violate that rule, In fact, doesn’t http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumd...?s=&forumid=29 also violate it

Participants may not use the forum to publish or discuss any information regarding their product or services, or future (possible) products or services, or any product or services they are, or have been, associated with. This includes, but not limit to suggesting your own services, or services of partners or family.
    Consult the 5 links above,

Participants may not use the Forum for commercial gain.
Don’t allot of hosts get business from this website, and that is commercial gain.

Participants may not use the Forum to direct others to any pages at their own commercial website, including informational pages.
So placing your website in your sig, like thousands of WHT'ers do is against the rules?

Soooooo... If these rules were enforced..... What would WHT be like?

When people can 'join together' and exchange views, ideas and share opportunities, that's when we all win..
The internet biz is a gamble.. most don't make it... and generally those that walk the walk alone, don't make it.. but when 'people' of like minds, and various talents can pool their skills together.. then.. you find a healthy balance for a great foundation.

Good luck Chris! Thanks for your posts!

I think you missed the part about "We enforce a very strict policy regarding solicitation of our membership by Forum participants except in those Forum sections where advertising is expressly permitted."

    And; signatures are not posts.

I read the rules every week or two. Just in case they try to slip a new one in.

Thanks for bringing this up; as it gets some more members reading.

There is an exclusion zone called the advertising forum that is what it is there for. Those rules are meant for all the other forums. And if you notice the sig lines are not clickable that is why they do not allow the sig in the main body of the post.

I agree with the rules keeps all the forums open for discussion without turning into the crazy place the advertising section is where every host is trying see who can drive themselves out of business the fastest by offering things like 10 gig of space and 200 gig of transfer for $60.00 a month.

The one I see being abused more and more is,

"Participants may not use discussions to recommend or praise other product or services, or any company, unless you have directly used them before. This includes companies recommending other companies."

    You see a lot of, "I hear . . . . " kinda of things.

I didn’t pay as much attention to except in those Forum sections where advertising is expressly permitted As I should have, Yes, technically, signatures are not posts, but they are associated with them, in terms of when you make a post, theirs your sig.

I do agree, People in the advertising forums DO try to see how low they can push the price, and every time they do they push themselves, they get that much closer to going out of business. Sometimes I wonder how they actually tern any profit.

I guess someone didn't read it through.
