Good, reliable reseller packages?

Hi

I'm currently using the Fasthosts Reseller package which, on the whole, is exactly what I'm looking for. However, I have issues with their up-time, security, and billing structure and am looking for a new supplier.

My ideal reseller package would in no particular order.

1. Cost no more than £50pcm
2. Offer unlimited domains hosted within my account (or >30 as standard)
3. Unlimited sub-domains
4. Unlimited POP3 or IMAP mail boxes
5. Fast connection to internet backbone
6. Allow me to configure all aspects of each domain I host (disk space, no of email accounts etc etc)
7. Have an easy o use reseller control panel
8. An easy to use client controlo panel
9. Robust, automated billing system
10. ASP (Not essential)
11. Low contention ratio of sites to server
12. Unilimited disk space (or > 25GB)
13. A big company

The host Nine reseller package looked absolutely ideal, but I am concearned by the reviews I've read, the fact I waited 30 mins for a live chat session and still didn't get one, the fact that they haven't replied to my sales enquiry yet.

Can anyone recommend a good, reliable Reseller Hosting Plan provider that has been around for a while and isn't going anywhere?

Many thanks

25GB would be possible for that budget i assume, but Unlimited and reliable are not going together; i am sure you understand

You can get your own dedicated for that much, and you can have 120gb+ space and a TB of bandwidth. A much more economical move IMO.

Absolutely, there are many dedicated deals going around for under $50US (which is half the OP's budget).

All your requirements are quite normal except the ASP. But I guess ASP is not essential. right?

Also, I think a 25 GB disk space is a little bit high too, even though you will be able to see few hundred GB offers with massive oversellers.

graphter,

First of all, welcome to WHT Forums

Up to 25GB diskspace for £50 month should be do-able. How much diskspace do you actually use at the moment?

If you do need ASP/ASP.net then windows hosting is going to be the best solution for you.

If your looking for a good control panel and automated billing system, I would personally recommend using Helm control panel as this includes a automated signup system and a billing system as standard.

Do you have any hosting companies in mind that you have been looking at so far?

Is there any other features you require such as MSSQL or MySQL, PHP etc.

That's usually the case with shared hosting accounts. Reseller hosting packages tend to be, comparatively, a lot more conservative.

Thanks for taking the time to reply... Finally a forum where replies are intelligent, and you're not instantly bombarded with people trying to sell you their own services (or is that still to come ).

I estimate I would be using about 10GB initially, and expect that to grow as I take on more client hosting accounts. I currently have about 50.

I'd want an account with a fixed amount of bandwidth reserved for me each month - I was assuming that 25GB of disk space implies 250GB of bandwidth, which I'd need to be able to chop up as I wanted.

A couple of other things I forgot to mention...
1. Each client acount would need it's own incoming/outgoing mailserver.
2. I'd need to be able to fix an amount of disk space and bandwidth available to each customer (guess that's a pretty obvious one.)
3. My own private nameservers (I think they call them vanity nameservers)

Location isn't all that important as long as the ping times to the UK are fast, and the servers aren't overloaded. I need my client sites to load quickly and reliably - no 50# error codes

Any suggestions of companies I should investigate further?

Many thanks

I don't think that will happen; it's not allowed. You may visit the 'offer' section to see if they have any offers for you; but they can't offer one to you. That's the rule here at WHT; and a good one too.

No this is not related to each other; any host can set this different; so you should include this separately in any requests.

1. this is more or less normal on cPanel setup's (i can't speak for others).
2. sure this is possible; but you have two types of reseller accouns; once who give you the freedom to over-sell yourself and once who don't. In simple terms if you would have 25GB and you would make 25 packages of 1 GB you are not overselling; if you make more as 25 packages of 1GB you would be overselling. (i know its simple description, but makes it clear i think).

Location doesn't really matter for webhosting itself; we did choose a east coast provider in the region of New Jersey, because its in the US but also has great connection to Europe. (pings mostly below 90ms from The Netherlands), i know pings don't mean everything but it gives a general impression.

Make sure if you go for a reseller company that you can build a good relationship with this host; you bring your clients to their server; if they make a mess of it; your customers complain to you, you want to be sure you and them are a great team and can solve any issues.

Good luck with your search for the right host.

Kindest regards,

Patrick

Hi patrick, thanks for the reply...

I know they're not related, but it does seem to be the rule of thumb from what I've seen.

I guess the main reason a UK location would be preferable is so that they're awake when I am. In my experience 24 hour support usually means a skeleton crew out of normal office hours. A few years back I used a host that had email support only, and farmed it out to China out of hours... When you have to write 4 or 5 emails repeating yourself over and over again before they even understand the problem, you appreciate the local touch!

I agree, but does that mean other users can't make recommendations? If it does there's not much point in my being here!

it might be near, but is absolutely no rule of thumb.

With a good host that should never happen, but local touch, nobody can compete with you could also look for other european hosts as they are in about the same time zone as you (mostly 1 hour ahead).

Yes you are completely right; other users can make recommendations at will.

Good grief!?! I'm not interested in splitting hairs with you all night. I'd just like a few people to recommend a few good hosts that fit my requirement. What hosting company do you use Patrick? What's your experience of them?

You must have misunderstood me ; but to answer your question:

We are not using any reseller packages. Most of the hosts we used in the past for reselling (yes we started out like that as well) i would not recommend to anyone quickly.

If you are looking for VPS i can recommend one company who did truly try their best to get things done, and that was JaguarPC, they also have other packages and i assume the support on those are just as good; you might want to check them out.

p/s they are not located in Europe or UK
