Hello everyone
I have looked around the site but got lost!!
I have written a few articles so I am ready to get my website up and running.
Next step, getting online. However, when looking at hosting packages I read thing like this...
5 FTP accounts
5 Advanced mailboxes
200 Standard mailboxes
ASP, complied CGI, PHP, Perl and SSI
I havn't a clue what I am looking at here, it may as well be a different language(wait a minute...it is). Why the hell would I need 200 mailboxes!!
Is there a FAQ section I can read on all this please?
John

It seems that you are quite confused with the hosting package you seen. Contact the sales person of respected service provider that is the particular hosting company for more info.

Sorry but I don't you need 5 FTP Accounts, 200 Email accounts and PHP + ASP both.
Most of the people will either use PHP or ASP for a particular site. So you need to decide which language are you going to use. If you are going to use PHP than Linux servers are better and for ASP you have the option of Windows Servers.
What is 5 Advanced Mailboxes btw?
Where did you read this?

Hello contactsonia
I thought I had posted a reply but when I refreshed my pc after I sent the reply I didn't see it, so I will write again.
My initial reply to you was "I do not now have the address of the site advertising these features. I also said that I am unsure if I am able to post the name of the hosting site on this public forum (dont want to upset the mods by appearing to advertise)but I could pm you with the name of the site when I find it".
Well, I have found the site so I can either post it here or pm you

Hello John,
You should do some research here and should be able to select some good Windows providers that can do this. You may want to check out jodohost and cartikahosting as they have been around for a while and have good input and reviews here at WHT.
Good luck w/ your search and best wishes!

Is it UKReg/Fasthosts?
If a host offers 200 mailboxes, that doesn't mean you have to use all 200 of them. It's like buying a house, you need to look for something that will accommodate your current needs and also allow you to grow without having to move elsewhere.

Mailboxes mean mail boxes, its like in an appartment u have mailboxes right for each appartment ? Should make it pretty clear now.
5 ftp account means 5 keys to ur house to put stuff inside or steal from .
Google for ASP and CGI and what they are. But think about it as the base of ur house, it could be water (waterhouses), cement, wood, or in space (the shuttle).
Cheers
