Best ColdFusion Host w/ MySQL?
I've been with CystalTech for a while now. They're descent, but expensive.
I've been hearing a lot of good things about HostNexus.
A friend is recommending intermedia, but they don't offer MySQL.
This is for mission critical stuff, but I can't afford dedicated. The stats don't justify it to the powers that be.
Any thoughts?

They scare me. They look too inexpensive for CF hosting.
I ended up opening an account with HostNexus, to test them out. They're well spoken of on WHReviews.com.
I placed my order 12 hours ago, and haven't heard a word from them. Just an automated receipt from WorldPay. Not so much as an autoresponse from HostNexus themselves.
Their live chat support is unavailable, even though it's within their live chat operating hours.
I posted a message on their forum about an hour and a half ago. No replies yet.
I finally broke down and sent good ol' fashioned Email.
Anyone have similar experiences with these guys? I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt based on what I read on WHReviews, but I'm starting to worry a little.

I didn't see that we have a subforum specifically for Windows hosting. Can a mod move this there for me?
Thanks, and sorry.

Almost 15 hours since I placed my order. Still no word from them. I filled out a support ticket. They did reply and say that a sales person would get in touch with me. That was about 2 hours ago.
I'm afraid I'm giving up hope. If they're this slow to reply from the sales department, I don't want to know how slow tech support might be.

Hi Scott,
Sorry for the delay. As explained, we did not get any confirmation from our merchant processor until quite late. That caused the delay. As for chat, sorry I missed you.
By the way, my offer of a free domain name registration still stnads if you are ever interested. Thanks Scott!

For all to read...
Once I was actually speaking to HostNexus, things got a lot better. My account was set up within minutes, and, as you can see above, they did offer me a free domain registration for my troubles.
I had already made up my mind that it was time to give someone else a shot. However, I felt good enough about them that I assured them if my replacement host didn't work out for some reason, that I would give them another crack at it. My hosting is very important to me. So the fact that I would be willing to give them another chance should be a good indicator that I do have confidence in them.
My suggestion to Mike/HostNexus, for what it's worth: I'd consider setting your shopping cart up to send out an auto-reply acknowledging orders. Even if it's not a full-blown account setup message. Just a little something that says "we got your order, thanks, as soon as your payment clears, we'll get your account set up. this could take X amount of time". It wasn't the slow setup that scared me. It was the lack of communication. If I would have known, I would have stayed.
Edit: I would also like to add that they were extremely fast in responding to my support ticket. They couldn't help me, because it had to go through sales first, but the reply did come very quickly.

Keep in mind you get what you pay for. GoDaddy offers ColdFusion hosting, but I don't know if you'd be happy with them. Unfortunately, ColdFusion hosting is expensive because ColdFusion costs quite a bit per server. If you can afford it, I would recommend staying with CrystalTech.
Whenever someone asks me which host to use if they need ColdFusion support, I always send them to CrystalTech or HostMySite. HostMySite is expensive, but they've been in the ColdFusion game forever and can support you very well.

No problem, Mike. Just being honest. I'll give props where they are due.
CF is a tough spot for me. I don't mind paying CT prices for my business sites. Where I have a problem is when I have my 2 little personal sites that cost me an extra $15/month and get 3 visitors/year. I'm a CF guy, so I do everything in CF, even the little stuff.

I hear ya. If you don't need the latest and greatest CF, JodoHost has very reasonable ColdFusion MX 7 hosting.

I think WeManage had a good point earlier. I wouldn't really trust these discount CF hosts... I mean, we all know how expensive a server license is for CF8, so I see red flags when I see CF plans that are too cheap. I can just imagine how many sites they're cramming into each server and how potentially unstable that might be. I agree, if you can afford it, stay with CrystalTech. You can go with their smallest CF8 plan if you can use MySQL...I'd recommend knowing both MySQL and SQL anyway, and it's not that hard to migrate over.
