Can a VPS always hosts an unlimited number of website with unlimited number of domain

Hi,
I'm new to Private Virtual Server and the package offered by different company are quite confusing.
I was on RackForce and their basis VPS package dds200-L can host 100 domain names on Plesk and unlimited domain names on WHM/Cpanel.
On 1and1 it didn't say if Plesk support 100 or unlimited domain names. My question is, do we always have the liberty to host unlimited domain names on our PVS?
Can anyone recommend a good VPS hosting company?

Thanks

The amount of domains is the amount the license enables.

It just so happens that cPanel allows Unlimited and Plesk requires you to have upto 100 then you must buy more.

Yes.

cPanel/DirectAdmin only has 1 license type - Unlimited Domains.
Plesk is the one limiting, with 10, 30 and 100 Domain Packs.

Honestly, I find Plesk's pricing high and is nowhere competitive.

You guys are talking about what plesk or cpanel allows you to do.

But generally for a Virtual Server (dedicated server), assuming you have enough memory, you CAN host many as you want - if your server is allocated enough memory/cpu. You would need to a little bit Unix to play with DNS server configuration, which is not that hard!

You can host unlimited domains under account. It all depends on which control panel you choose. It also depends on how much bandwidth and disk space you have in your account to host those domains.

Webhosting Control Panels like Confixx and LxAdmin can handle unlimited domains.

Thank you guys. You are all so helpful!
I'm comparing 3 companies right now:
(1)RackForce: I chatted with their sales rep. They seem to have great support! However, the lowers package is 59 USD which is a bit out of my budget.

(2)Knownhost: I found Knownhost from this forum as well. It seems like lots of people recommended it. The price is still under my budeget

(3)1and1 (France): I know... they have the worst support in the world. But there is one main reason I might choose them. Their servers are located in France unlike the others in the States. And it's 9.90 euros about 15 bucks a month.

I'm going for VPS mainly because I'm going to start a business with SWSoft SiteBuilder on the localmarket.

Can anyone help me to choose?

Slow or poor support will be a definite no.
If your server goes down, a slow support may leave your client down for days!

Do you mean support for the host-server or the vps itself? Maybe the vps are unmanaged, so there will be no support.

Both.
Unmanaged it may be, but hosts are still responsible to get the VPS connected if the user lost access to the VPS.

It would be extremely ridiculous if the user is left hanging while a misconfigured firewall or something with the user unable to access the VPS to fix the problem.

Thanks guys. I think I might just go for EuroVPS.
I know I need a server with Plesk (better compatibility with SWSoft SiteBuilder which is from the same company), but which one should I choose:

(1) Plesk Windows VPS Hosting
(2) Plesk Linux VPS Hosting
(3) HSPcomplete Basic VPS Hosting

For HSPcomplete "unmanaged" basic hosting, can I ask for support if I have any problem in installing the SiteBuilder application?
I'm a student in Paris and have a low budget.

Are their support in English and French? (1nd1 France).

Back to your question, 'Can a VPS always host an unlimited number of website with unlimited number of domains?'

A VPS is limited by the hardware, RAM, and space assigned to it. So if you have a 20 GB VPS with 512 MB of RAM and an unlimited licence you will still have limits on this. The unlimited licence allows you to host as many sites as the VPS can handle. Limits will also be determined by the type of site, basic or database driven, etc.

You can ask, but they have absolutely no responsibility to help you with that or any other management your VPS may need. Unmanaged typically means the host provides working hardware, a network connection and reverse DNS - you're responsible for everything else.

Have you considered a Plesk reseller account with SiteBuilder? (I assume such accounts exist). That would allow you to concentrate on selling to your clients and leave your host to manage the server.

First of all to run "unlimited" number of websites in decent basis is not possible because VPS in fact is private but not totally dedicated (CPU is ever shared...) and for web hosting fast load total CPU resources is essential. But if you prefer a VPS instead a dedi to run unlimited domains I suggest you the hybrid servers of Known Host, Servint, Wired Tree and more.

Note: "unlimited" offered by control panels is theoretical. Example: Linux limit for websites is around 32,000 but the Plesk "unlimited" of Godaddy for its VDSs is 500 websites (eh eh eh).

GOOD LUCK!
