Some friends and I run a site that has outgrown its space. We currently host on Pair Networks and have great times but we need more space. We don't have the money or resources to get a dedicated server. I am sick of searching for hosts only to have the too-good-to-be-true woes. We were considering CWI or CI but after reading posts on here we have since abondoned that idea. We are looking for real-life recomendations and testimonials. Right now our needed specs are:
-As much space as possible (1Gig would be nice, but we can work with less)
-10 or more Gig of transfer.
-GOOD tech support staff
-all for around $40 or less monthly (hopefully not too unreasonable)
Please help! Any information leading us to a decent host will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
If you haven't already done so, a quick look through this thread: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...?threadid=3053 will give you a list of hosts that frequent this board. 1 gig of storage at that price point may be tough though.
Good Luck!

We have already been to many of these sites and have searched on other host search sites. We are mainly looking for people who are happy with their hosts and would be willing to recommend them (assuming they match up with our site's needs). Hope that someone can help!

Bandwidth is nice at tera-byte but 200Meg is not nearly enough. I do appreciate the reply though. Thanks!

Tera-byte is one of the cheapest and the most highly recommened host for sites using a lot of bandwidht. There bandwidth prices are extremely cheap.
1gig of space, is gonna be tough to find for any virtual account. What does your site run?

I remembered seeing a host that offered 1 gb of space before but they were offering it for $100 something. Don't quite remember the name of the host though. It'll be tough to find one that offers it for around $40, IMHO.
Maybe you should look into getting a dedicated server instead.. ServerHost offers one of it's dedicated server at rought $79.

Can't afford a dedicated server. We run a independent entertainment company. We have a bunch on animations and music etc. Lots of downloadable stuff. We could even get by with about 500 Meg of space, but more would be better.

Since you have such a tight budget, I think you need to decide on exaclty how much space do you need to start with. The more the better is understood, but we need to be realistic.

I initially said 1Gig because we will need room to grow. Going as low as 500Meg still gives us room to grow but we may need to change servers again sooner. What we want is to find a host that we can stay with for a long time. We are tired of moving from one host to another.
So, yes, 500Meg is acceptable. We will sacrifice the extra space if it means getting a GOOD host.

I think I see the guy you are talking about. I went to his site today. There is just something bad about hosting with someone who doesn't even <title> their web pages. I've been researching all day, and the best I've come up with is OLM (www.olm.net). They aren't teh best deal, but they do have a great package, and from what I read, great support. Anyone care to comment on them?

icthyo,
Just to question ... are you talking about me here, or are you referring to another advertisement?

If you can survive with 500 Meg right now, then think of getting that since with many host you can upgrade your account anytime with no fee at all. I am sure you will agree that your budget will grow with your needs:-)
