Dedicated server help

Hi,

I am currently hosting my site on a dedicated server.

Single Core AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2gigs

1gb ram

My server goes down every other day and requires a reboot to get going.

I have heavy traffic (20k unique users per day) and most of my website(99%) is based on mysql. I have multiple scripts which use the mysql databases eg. news (wordpress), gallery (coppermine), forums etc.

I have gone through the forum but was unable to decide which would best suit me, especially given the situation where I have a high load on mysql databases.

Budget - 100$-150$

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to WHT
You could try some of the server management companies to help you with your problems. Tuning your O/S and mysql could help, worth a shot before you go for new hardware.

I have tried all possible options for last 3 months. For 1 week it will be fine, then starts the trouble again. they try to vary all possible parameters to keep my server happy, but still goes down, server guys are unable to give me a solid reason for my server outage. I am now getting frustrated. I am planning to switch if I experience the problem again. So looking forward for a decent server.

You may have to bump your budget up to get some more power. Are you running apache? You may see better performance out of a lighter httpd package.

Some Advice:
Optimize you apache, mysql if you can if not ask you host.
Upgrade wordpress to latest version, disable plugins like wp useronline and other heavy plugin, Use plugin WP Cache.
If you have other scripts which have updated version then try to update/Upgrade.
If that doesn't solve your problem then hire mysql experts to analyze and optimize your mysql, they may point some bad mysql queries that is eating up memories.
Also upgarde RAM to 2GB if you can.

What specifc errors are you getting?

Sounds like you may need a dual-core processor with plenty of RAM. That will be hard to come by on your $100-$150 budget.

Has upgrade of wordpress helped?
Also r u using WP Cache plugin?
Plugin like WP User Online,Show Similar post etc., can cause hard on server..
Also If you've upgraded try to use updated versions of plugins that are compatible to latest wordpress and disable all old plugin which are not campactible...

Let us know the results after this.

Wp Cache will surely reduce server load, i've tested it and using it in my blogs.
Also Upgrading WP didn't helped at all?
Good luck and let us know your results.
