Webmail inboxes for users?

Hi there ive seen some websites offering webmail inboxes for its users to sign up to @websitename.com so each user has its own mailbox.

Does anybody know any good reliable "cheap" webmail providers?

Cheers.

You can setup this kind of service if you are using a cpanel server. There are scripts available for setting this up. Have a search in the cpanel forum.

Ive asked over at cPanel they seem clueless.. any help from you guys would be appreciated.. i just need a lead so i can do everything by myself.. i dont know how cPanel gives this option even though we have a few sites that use cPanel.

Could you kindly tell me what scripts you are talking about?

I want to start my own email providing service @mydomain.com where people are able to sign up and register and get their own email accounts.

Cheers.

Not sure of anything out there to accomplish this out of the box; however, it wouldn't be difficult to do with the cPanel or DirectAdmin API and a little bit of PHP work.

You could do this with any billing system like WHMCS or CE. Just create a free service for a cpanel package that only allows for email hosting and you can limit it to 1 or many accounts.

You can have a look at Socketmail, Hivemail, Atmail, with these they use one "catch all" cpanel email account, then using Cron, hivemail or socketmail checkes the "Catch All" account for new mail then distributes the mail to the proper email client set up in the msql database..

http://www.socketmail.com/

http://www.hive2.com

And

Rackspace Email Service

Have you tried Rackspace's email service? They offer a stand alone offering where you do not have to buy a server, you can just buy mailboxes. I would give that a try.

Hivemail or Socketmail should be good for what you are looking to do, Hivemail used to have hivemailhost.com that used to offer what you are looking to offer, so its possible
