How to automatically replace a crashed server
Hi there.
I am just looking for some starter tips:
Currently:
1 server with mirrored discs, single network card
Planned:
1 master server plus one backup server
if master crashes - all traffic should be handled by the backup server, automatically
How this can be done??
Thank you.

It looks like you need loadbalanced/failover solution. It can be hardware or software solutions which monitors network activity you want.

if the two servers have to exist anyways, you might as well make them both active members of the load balancing set. there is even one out there that autoreplicates the designated master for you.
