E-topbiz.com - PTC script bugs

I order the Hits 4 Cash 1 script from E-topbiz.com on Aug. 28, 2007.

I sent the owner a e-mail the same day telling him that his script has a big security bug allowing people clicking on other user's links and also some other bugs such as it's not possible to enable a link using the admin control panel or change the message that user sees when he logins.

The big problem is that everyone, without even been a member, can click on many users links and charge the advertisers and me lots of money. For example:

http://www.domain.com/members/frame.php?uid=19&id=3
http://www.domain.com/members/frame.php?uid=20&id=3
http://www.domain.com/members/frame.php?uid=21&id=3

The owner of the script said in other websites that if there is any bug they will fix it or refund. I got only 2 reply from the owner sending me the license code (but I had already report him the bug, asking him a refund) and another one asking me "why someone wants to click other peoples links?". From his reply I understand that he doesn't care to fix it.

So what would you do in my position? I want to avoid a chargeback but I can't communicate with him.

Thanks for your replies.

A bug is something that doesn't work in the script. If they claim it does something and it actually doesn't, or the feature doesn't work it's a bug.

Not working the way you think it should is not a bug.

This bug is serious. Someone else can take advantage and that will cost money to my advertisers and to me. It was not possible to know if the script was secure or not but because the script handles money you expect that they took security seriously when they wrote it.

Also as I said it has other bugs too. For example a member creates a link and decides to pay $0.01 for every click. In the admin control panel there is an option to change the value, that doesn't work. There same problem for the message that members can see when they login. There is an option to change that message but doesn't work. These things are disabled to his online demo so I didn't know if these options work or not.

Do you want to provide you the admin user/pass by pm and tell us your opinion again?

Nah, that's ok and what you're saying makes sense. I've got a client who bought scripts from them. They're cheaply written, but for the most part they work ok. Though he didn't purchase this script specifically so I can't comment on that.

But yea, what you're talking about does make sense to want fixed.

It cost me $22 USD. It's not about the money, but I don't like to order something that I think it's secure and get a buggy script and get no cooperation from the owner to fix it. I have already send him an e-mail asking him to visit this thread.

You do see the fatal flaw in your thought process here right? You expected a secure, well written script for twenty dollars

When I buy something I except to work. I know there are other scripts that cost $70-80 like cashcrusader but these scripts do 10 more things that I don't need. I just need 1 specific function. So looking how much code written for that script and how much for the other scripts I think that it doesn't worth more than $22.

It looks like that the owner didn't come here to post a reply. So be careful when you buy from E-topbiz.com

Also have a look at the screenshot:

Hehe. Then I am sure he will reply. But as I said I am looking for a solution so both parties are happy. What I want is to fix the issues so I can use the script.

No, I would not buy anything from him. He is an ex member at my forum.

I hope you can get your money back from it, but its another case of "you get what you pay for". Its very rare that you find a great script for lowcost or even free, it does happen but rarely.
