    telephone system with authorization code

    Hi,
Was wondering if any of you knew a telephone system where callers can be asked to enter a authorization code before being passed on to an agent.

Callers would only be allowed to move on if they type in a code that is matched in a database.

    Thanks for your help.

Easiest method is just an IVR system, where you could setup extension number based on a code system. Ie customer enters 5719, and gets directed to 5719 (extension) which can forward to a group (ie normal call agent handling group), if no number is entered or the code is incorrect (extension not found) terminate the call or reroute it.

Theres loads of IVR systems out there you can use to do this, just have to do something simple like above, as I'm not aware of a particular system that does it purely for that purpose.

Asterisk could do this no problem, you would have to do some custom coding though.

Another option that can do this, if applicable to your setup could include OpenSER as well.

It would need to be an individual code pr caller though, so that setup might not work.

Use asterisk then. A few simple dial plan lines and you're in business. You can add/remove authorized codes via a web interface, for instance.
