I was wondering if you offer CentOS 5 as an option.
Also, do you have any backup system in place, either automated snapshot style or even manual so that we can take an image of our system.

If not, do you provide any backup space so that we can backup our critical data?

Prashant,

Currently the latest CentOS version we offer is 4.5. We expect to deploy CentOS v5 when either a new template (non EZ) from SW-Soft is released or when we upgrade to VZ 4.0, whichever comes first.

As far as backups go, we do automated backups of all VE's so there is no need to do a VZ SnapShot. Instead we encourage clients to perform control panel backups and save them to their local PC. We also offer our ZoneVault service which is remote storage, so you can store the backup there as well.

That is disappointing, I was looking at getting 3-4 VM 800s but now my cost will go up $45-$60. According to the zone.net's site "this is a managed product, we take care of all aspects of your server", I guess these are really only semi-managed.

Many providers claim that they offer fully managed service, however it's your right to claim that they don't.
Because not all of managed services will meet everyone's needs.
In fact; the word "all" they said might not the same as yours.

Every providers definition of 'fully managed' is different. As far as monitoring goes, our VM-series includes the ZoneAlert Basic system which ping monitors your server and up to 1 service for free. The ZoneAlert Basic package is $5/m extra for our unmanaged VU-series packages.

If you are looking for monitoring up to 3 services and response from us if one of those services goes down, than ZoneAlert Pro would include that and that is only $15/m on our VM-series and $20/m on the VU-series. We think that is a fair price for the service provided, and is very similar to current industry offerings.

Thanks for your comments. Our VM-series is indeed a managed product, but as mentioned before in this thread and others on WHT, the definition of managed, semi-managed and unmanaged is really dependent on the provider. Everyone has a different meaning for those words.

For unmanaged servers like our VU-series, we only offer basic 24x7 support if you have a server or network outage, and that's about it. I like to think our definition of managed for our VM-series is pretty solid and broad, which means we'll guarantee to do our absolute best to take care of all our customers in all aspects of installation, configuration, migration, optimization, security, etc. The only thing we're really hesitant to cover is any sort of development/programming, third-party scripts/services or custom OS configurations, which I think is also pretty much industry standard with any major VPS provider. That doesn't mean we won't give it our best effort attempt though, as I said before our goal here is complete customer satisfaction. It's important for us to set expectations properly in the beginning with our clients, because it avoids any difficulties or misunderstandings down the line and I hope this clears up our definition of managed and unmanaged a bit.

That being said, if you are truly interested in signing up with us for that kind of quantity of servers, I'm sure we can accommodate your needs via some sort of discount or custom-promotion. Just send me a PM or open up a sales ticket @ http://control.zone.net and I'll be happy to review your situation and recommend the best possible solution for you. Keep in mind it might be that you don't even need 3-4 VM800's so we can probably save you some money (which is always a good thing).
