I've heard that too, but I don't believe it's been done. I've got a site that was changed completely and the backlinks went from 500 to 10,000 which raised the rank to at least 5. But so far nothing has changed.

PR is getting to the point that it's pointless now anyway. it's so infrequently updated it's ridiculous

That's a good article haha.

Here's what I think. There's a problem here sometimes with rank. For instance. I have a blog about Hillary Clinton. My page rank on that blog is only 5. Which is pretty low I guess. But i am constantly seeing search results of my site in the top 10. In fact, it's hard to search for hillary clinton on any site for multiple items and not see my site. To me this doesn't make sense.

With a site rank of 5 I'd assume I'd be far down the list. rarely showing up on the front page. but taht's not the case.

I think Google has an internal ranking system that's completely separate from the 'google pr'. I can also see search results change dynamically. If I make a mistake I can drop off the search results quickly. And it works both ways. All the while the pr stays exactly the same.

So what I want to know is, how relevant is the Google PR that's shows on websites compared to search results? There's no way it can be THAT important if it's updated up to 8 months apart which is what Google says.

So there's something I'm missing in this whole thing.

SeoMoz recently announced the new top 10 of Google's ranking factors. If anyone is curious to know how, what and why, you can visit http://www.seomoz.org/article/search-ranking-factors

Well the backlinks update has started and PR update may start at the end of this month or starting of next month.

It has already kicked in I think. Look at all the stats of your site, all the surveys on the web and so on!

Yup, the general PageRank hype has been buzzing around the blogosphere for the last month or so.

From what I've heard, the update was scheduled for some time around this week or next, but only the folks at Google know that. Time will tell, I guess. Good things come to those who wait.

I know. Nobody knows. Everybody knows. Somebody knows... nobody knows.

Seriously, only Google know. It'll arrive when it arrives. Until then, use the unexpected extra time to build some more backlinks.
