I am looking for a quick and simple javascript that will allow users to click a button and have the corresponding bbcode (bold, italic, underline, etc) into a form field - similar to phpBB's, vBulletin's, etc.
The script should be flexible so I can reuse it for different fields without copying/pasting it over and over again. (ie, the form name and/or fields would ideally not be hard-coded into the javascript itself).
I do NOT need a PHP class to parse the bbCode (this script will be used in conjunction with a PHP project, but I've already go the PHP side taken care of). This project is simply for the javascript to insert the bbcode into the corresponding field.
Below are links that will show the javascript I'm currently using. You'll see how the form name and field name are both hard-coded in.
