hosts.deny Maximum?


What are the maximum number of entries that can go in hosts.deny? Will the server bog down the more entries that are in there? How many is a safe, reasonable number?

A better question is, what are you trying to do - exactly?

In some cases it may make sense to modify /etc/hosts.deny to include ALL:ALL and then add the IP ranges you require to /etc/hosts.allow ...

Pat: ALL:ALL won't work for me, I need to block individual IPs.
