so i can get xbox live in my room... i have a comcast cable modem, but transfering the internet over a 14mbps connection be enough to play without lag?

If you really get 1.75MBps you won't have any problems with bandwidth. I believe lag and latency are essentially the same thing, in which case you would only need to worry about latency. I don't really know much about BPL technology, but if the modems are relatively close to one another I doubt it will be much of a problem.
