Thread: Linux Mandrake

    Linux Mandrake

I would like to load my new machine with Linux Mandrake instead of Windows XP.

Did somebody have experience with Mandrake? Is it good and powerful?

Can I still run and operate Microsoft Office and others?

    Thanks.

For home use... Any kind of linux/bsd will do....

With servers, well, your going to find alot of differnt opions...

Home use is basic, and it will help you use linux/bsd more, so doesn't really mater what distro you choose... Do some reasearch on google and decide which one is best for you....

    DutchShultz,

There are dozens of different distributions, Linux Mandrake is only one of the bunch. RedHat is another. Slackware is the best teehee. I can't say anything about FreeBSD, my fiance says it is better than Linux (even though he doesn't know much about either) but I've never used it.

Anyway, go to linux.org and look through the distributions, find which one seems to fit you best if you're really confused by people talking about the different ones.
