Backup script needed

Hi all,

I've been trying to find a decent script that can be run as a cron that backups up 2 databases (that both uses different usernames and passwords), tar's them together and then emails me the tar file. The databases are only small, so should only be around 400kb when emailed.

If anyone can help, please reply with a turnaround time and price.

Thanks

Time: within 6 hours.
Price: $60

I'm already working on automated backups nowadays, I can write you the script damn fast.

Only limitations: you shouldn't have safemod on with PHP, and the databases should be MySQL.

If you have ssh access, and you're not afraid a bit to try some simplistic coding ... why not do something like:

#!/bin/sh
# directly dump the whole database
mysqldump -uusernamehere -ppasswordhere --databases 'mydatebase1' 'mydatabase2' >> /tmp/mybackup.sql
# then send email as attachment ...
# there are many tools and how-to guides around the net to do this

then, add this shell script in your crontab ... execute daily at e.g. midnight

THanks Cygnusd for your help. Ive been working with some bash scripts lately, but none seem to be working the way I want them. Might have to talk to the host a bit more about the ssh access.

Thanks Harzem for your offer. That price is a bit higher than Im looking for, so I will keep the offers open and see what happens..
