Learning About Security

I am looking to learn about securing and mantaining a server. Can you please tell me what is involved in securing and mantaining a server and link me to some resources.

Do you use Unix, Linux or Windows?

First thing you need to have is setup a firewall. Next is to make sure you are using latest software eg. kernel.

Assuming you're talking about Linux servers, the distro website may provide further guides in their help section e.g. Debian have a 'Securing Debian' document, on their website.
