more info please? (cant help much with just a budget and os choice.....)

(you might need a 40gb hd with 5tb bw) or 2tb of space with 3tb bw...)

    many factors are involved.

what will this server be used for?
    ram needed?
    cpu power?
    location of server?
    quality of bandwidth?
    fully managed?
    control panel?
    ammount of bandwidth?
    on what port speed?

do you require anything special? i.e. (alot of IP's or adult content allowed/warez/irc/email spam?)

more info you provide. more help we can provide

    Hai,

    Thanks for your reply.

I need to run a basic .Net website which requires MS SQL. It would get nearly 1000 visitors a day.

The dedicated server should have atleast 160 GB hdd and I prefer a fully managed server.

Some other names you can consider
    - if you want to have Helm control panel, check with Mike at Handynetworks
    - if you want to have H-Sphere control panel, Andrew at Cartikahosting can give you a good server

Softlayer did have some downtime but overall they seem to be a excellent provider.

Regarding speed of asp pages it depends on the scripting and server hardware.

I've got a few Windows boxes with LiquidWeb and have been very happy with the hardware, network and support.
