Getting an email every time an error happen in your php script.

Hi,

I wrote my own script. Once in a while, under a certain condition, my script run for more than 30 seconds.

On that moment, the whole server go down.

I know about the problem only after checking the error_log

Since I'll be moving to reseller hosting I wonder if there is a way to get email every time there is such error.

That way I can fix this.

Notice that this is a bug that very rarely happen.

You want to get emailed when your server goes down? When a script runs for more than 30 seconds? When your server comes back up?

Actually at hostgator.com they put error in file error_log

Works even better. At my own unmanaged server, I don't know how to set that thing up.

I really shouldn't run my own server.

That error_log file is created by PHP, not HostGator.

you can handle php errors like described here: http://uk2.php.net/errorfunc

you can also set different levels of reporting in error_reporting and set display_errors off and log_errors on (which is advisable if a production envirionment)

Good luck
