Thumbs up My 6 Month Review of Hostagtor

Firstly, i hope this doesnt jinx anything

So ive had my reseller account with Hostgator now for 6 months and so far all has been very good! I should say that i have two reseller accounts, one with Hostgator and now one with Vidahost. Cant comment on Vidahost yet as only been with them since Saturday after leaving H9 for them although so far everything has been great

Before choosing Hostgator i was with a muchly unknown provider called Statichost. Sadly when i was with them the guy experienced a number of DDos attacks which resulted in a lot of downtime and while the support was second to none i couldnt risk my popular ecommerce site being down for so long.

Uptime with Hostgator has been fantastic with only 4 minutes of downtime in the last 6 months which i think is pretty incredible. Server seems fast, FTP is good and no problems with email access. I have only had to use Support twice but sadly that is their only let down, not because it was bad but rather because both issues were fairly small but went through 5-6 reps before being sorted.

You might ask why i didnt go straight to Hostgator when i left H9. The reason being was availability. Simply i like my own websites to be on a different server to that of my clients, that way should their websites go down then they can still reach my websites for support.

Overall i a really pleased with Hostgator and the six months trouble free service they have provided and i would have no problems recommending them to anyone starting out in the business and looking for an established host.

Well done HG, and thank you

Thank you for the review. For validation purposes, please provide a domain that you host with Hostgator, wither publically, or by sending it to the moderating team via http://www.webhostingtalk.com/report.php?p=4597670.

I know the feeling. I suspect it's one of the less important reasons why happy customers are not very vocal. Too much popularity of the provider could lead to growing pains, or maybe a "sleep on the laurels" attitude.

Done

Dont think theres any chance of that with them being around so long but its always the way that once you praise something it all can go wrong

Now that was fast all right!

I confirm that the provided domains are hosted by HG. Thank you for your cooperation!

I too have Host Gator. Overall, I have found their support to be excellent and helpful.

BUT...

I have a product they offered me called Special Reseller account: $15 per month and includes 2GB of space and 25GB of bandwidth. The problem is, I ran out of space rather quickly. The company is not willing in any way to offer me more space on an incremental level, I have to go to the Aluminum plan. 40% more cost!!
Personally, I find this inflexibility unacceptable and it forces me to find another provider. This does not please me, and affects my opinion of the company altogether.

That's just me.

I mean you no offence but it seems to me that you are the one being unflexible here. They offered you a product which is not publicly available probably as a tester for their services and to get more space they are asking you to upgrade to the lowest available reseller plan which only seems fair to me under the circumstances.

You dont get much better than HG with regards to size of packages from a well known company but if you go with a new company they will probably try to accomodate your needs better.

Good luck with your search

I'll take that as a positive review. I think it would be a shame for them to lose you as a customer, and lose your good will in the process as well though, and something tells me there is still a chance for a middle ground to be found. Ultimately, try to reach the owner, Brent. I trust he'll find that solution.

Oh yeah, I totally agree that I'm being demanding, but nothing they shouldn't be able to accommodate. I'll try to get a word in to Brent, maybe he can help.

Otherwise, I'm thinking resellerzoom or something.

There was problem with UK route/ip change on short notice which we got ourself from Datacenter/NOC in UK , can't take that to generalise whole service/server performance. I think you are talking of that, other than that the servers/services are doing really fine.

Sorry for your inconveniences you may have gone through at that time.

That is not the case at all Andrew, it was merely the icing on the cake. The biggest problem was your support staff who had a habbit of giving scripted replies rather than actually investigating a problem

Please dont use a thread praising another provider for your own needs
