Hi,
I'm trying to run a Winamp stream via a VPS however I get this error:
"bad sound drivers or install sound" yada.
Does anyone know a work around this?

See if that will help

That bypass will have to be on a program level.
I don't know any technology emulating sound as of yet.

Yes that's what I'm looking for; an alternative on the software level.
Thanks for the advice, I'll go look them up.

Are you sure sound is enabled in the VE? When you logon to the remote desktop, do you hear the windows login sound?? If not, try this. Then log off and back on. If your host supports sound then it should push sound from the running program to your remote desktop client.
I hope this is helpful.

Not even VMWare emulates sound (from what I heard)...

hrm...maybe I don't understand....
I loaded winamp onto the VE and am able to hear the tunes over the remote desktop.
I put a screen shot here. Is this what you mean??
I notice it's a bit choppy if I do a lot over my internet connection....interesting

You might want to use shoutcast to stream the tracks.

If that is so, my apologies.
I'm not really a Windows supporter, and I don't think the speeds of virtualized Windows is comparable to that of Linux.
It's lack of a text based access mode is something I have great distaste for.

Heh, DOS junkie?
The above plugin has worked, thanks guys. Just needed a work around since there is no sound card displayed to stream.
