Hello, I would like to compare what windows shared hosting is currently available to what I'm currently using as I'm getting charges for high bandwidth (20 gigs) for 40 websites which is not really high these days and I have to pay $1 every extra gig & its rising.
I don't want a VPS as I have tried them in the past and it is too much effort to set them up although I will use one in the future when I have the time to set one up properly. ALso with the ones I tried the memory couldn't cope and if I needed to get reasonable performance I would have had to pay a lot of $$$
My requirements are (all to be included in monthly price):
# must be unlimited or at least 50 domains can be hosted
# Offer Helm
# 50 gigs Bandwidth or more
# Clean host (no SEO banning or problems)
# Hosting Company Must not be a reseller - I want the real deal, proven & experienced host that has been around for at least 2 years. I will be doing a lot of research so please don't bother plugging your reseller business.
# I want at least 5 dedicated IP's with package
# Must offer AWStats with each domain
# Price: currently paying around $30 per month so something similar would be good

Hello,
For your budget you can certainly get more. If you're getting 20GB of bandwidth for $30 then your host is a bit behind the times (considering how much bandwidth prices have dropped). While you can get something which offers 200 times more, I wouldn't suggest looking at anything that massively oversold. But it's reasonable to expect around 200 GB of transfer for the price you're paying.
You can check out the offers forum on this website and a couple of hosting indexes like hostsearch.com, hostindex.com, webhostdir.com & tophosts.com.
Goodluck with your search!
All the best.

Are you looking for anything specific such as ASP.NET AJAX? ASPJpeg? ASPUpload?

EXACTLY, this is what I thought as well, I sent an email to my current host to let them know that but I didn't put it too bluntly, I just explained that since YouTube & web2 etc, mulitmedia is a big part of the Internet & in 2007 with all the media sharing, hosts have had to change their bandwidth offering. One of my Unix hosts offers 2,000 gigs per month for a shared host at less price although Windows is generally more expensive, I have had a little look around and their bandwidth is below all their competitors although they have been good in other areas so I have to give them that. Although I have been waiting for 2 days now to hear back from them and no email yet and this is another reason why I have to now look elsewhere. They used to get back to me with in a few hours, lately I'm very lucky if it is 1 week although I have not had any urgent requests luckily.
What a pain though, I'm not really keen to start moving hosts but I think I should setup another windows hosts anyway and not rely just on one. At least if I get one setup now and move a few sites over to it then I will be prepared if I decide to compleltly drop my current one. It wouldn't hurt for seo purposes to split some sites & hosts anyway...

I don't need those programs at the moment but I do like the host to be somewhat flexible etc, I do need dns-less database connections for access databases I have. I will also need to have some specific IIS settings like "Enable Parent Paths". I would also like to be able to upgrade to SQL server later as I plan to upgrade some of my databases.

Pretty much any windows host should be able to suite your needs. But be care with the huge bandwidth offerings, because when it comes down to it, you get what you pay for.
Also, make sure to do your research on any host you consider, there are usually a great amount of reviews here on WHT.

Ugh....
Bandwidth is still expensive - don't be fooled. Just because there is all this media flying around now doesn't mean it's cheap to do so. Those hosts that offer 5,000 GB of bandwidth for 5$ / mth - do you really think you'll ever use all of that? Most have stipulations in their TOS that say "files must relate to hosted websites" or other provisions that will basically ensure you will never get to use it. There are some people that use that much for that cheap, but they fall into a very small percentage of the overall clients. The business model of these hosts relies on the fact that not everyone will use close to their allocated resources.
We still charge clients 1.00 / GB of extra bandwidth because for Internap bandwidth it's still expensive. If you get Cogent bandwidth, you can charge cheaper, but the quality goes down a lot.
You still get what you pay for - that is a universal truth. If you are happy with the service your host provides, well, there is a reason you get good service. You pay for it.
Regards,

OK.. since I'm not a hosting provider... I'll say it.
For what you're looking for, you need to look at reliablesite.net. Not only do they have what you want, but they're also: Clustered
Fully Redundant
and Load balanced.
Plus they have 50% off going on right now.
Give them a try.
EDIT: I'm not sure about the 5 dedicated IP's. You'll need to ask

Yes I know you get what you pay for etc and maybe bandwidth is still expensive for quality so I appreciate you pointing that out. But I do believe the prices should have fallen in the last 1 - 2 years overall because of several things like the web2, myspace & YouTube explosion which has placed a much higher demand on bandwidth requirements for hosts & the Internet in general although my sites don't use videos etc yet. Plus I have looked around in the last few days and my hosts bandwidth for the package I'm paying for is the lowest compared to all other windows hosting although I do see most others are not offering 2,000 gigs like my Unix host does although as you say it is a different quality in that case.

Yes & I'm currently using a reseller account at the moment even though all my websites are my own & I don't resell hosting but the reseller packages seems to fit my needs better.

I like the look of them & their bandwidth prices are great for upgrading in the clustered & reseller package.
But I have not ever herd of them, can someone else also recommend them or know much about them?

Bandwidth still costs. Don't get fooled by hosts offering a lot of bandwidth for very little. I see nothing wrong with 20gb for $30.
Remember too there are different markets. Maybe your current host just doesn't want to serve that market you just described above, and I wouldn't blame them. Of course the other side is if you are paying that much they shouldn't be taking several days to respond to your tickets, so that's unfortunate.
But really you have to compromise between resources, quality, and price. IMO, you should choose the two that matter most to you and find a host that matches that. but you can't get all three. If it is high quality and has a good price you're not going to get many resources. If you have a lot of resources and a cheap price the quality will suffer. Similarly if you want a lot of resources and also high quality, you'll need to pay for it.

Right Hosting... I love this thread. I can hear "pick me! pick me" being said quietly! :-)
In all seriousness, when someone replies to you, carefully look at their signature. This is their way of saying... check us out... we have what you need... but they cannot say that here. Most of them seem to offer good plans. 3 of them(reliablesite.net, Cyber Host Pro, Azavia) even offer a clustered environment. I'd mention others, but you specifically want Windows hosting
Why someone would not look at this type of environment for shared hosting is beyond me. Check out the 3 I just mentioned by going to their website and seeing if they meet your requirements... then look at reviews.
As far as Reliablesite.net, their support is great.
They get good reviews here. They are not only clustered, but load balanced also.

Meanwhile I am recommending cartika sometimes with their quality of services, they're offering H-Sphere, not Helm as the OP's requesting
