Alternative to Softlayer

Recently I spent 5 months with Softlayer having taken a server with them whilst in development of a project.

Im now looking for a full on server and would like suggestions that are comparable to softlayer.

**Why I liked softlayer

Their prices are brilliant.
Great servers and deals
Great network
Great support

In all softlayer has everything I want in a Server provider.

What im now looking for is a provider whom is comparable to them but is based outside of the US.

I fully understand that Non US based servers tend to be abit more pricy . The servers can be based anywhere in Europe or UK,
Looking forwards to your suggestions

Well, servers outside US are not necessarily more pricey than US, but most of the cheap ones are in German and need EU bank accounts to buy their services.

You can give www.pence49.com a try. Never tried them first hand but they give high end servers for a rather affordable price. You can also give www.easyspeedy.com a look too.

If you're ok with Canada I would recommend www.iWeb8.com in Montreal. They have a fantastic network and their staff go above and beyond to make sure you're experience with them is a pleasant one.

My company will be using SoftLayer as well. I just wish that their website was a bit more organized, because I can't easily navigate.

Have you tried AlphaRed? Just tell them that another host is trying to pull you in and they will do everything possible to bring you in (to keep you away from danger).

Discounts and stuff... I did that, but it wasn't a lie :-)

AlphaRed is great! But so is SoftLayer :-)

Hi John,

Sorry to jump in here but I desperately need some positive feedback about AlphaRed before I make the leap from my current provider.

I am looking at their VPS lineup particularly the UNIX_Platinum.

Everything looks fine with the specs and what they offer but what about support?

What would you say would be an average response time to a support ticket?

Any other info about them would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Rob

I would talk to Jonathon B personally. He is always online ICQ and is extremely helpful. You can't go wrong by choosing AlphaRed. They are an established company and are very devoted to helping the clients.

They are extremely quick in answering most support tickets.

I recommend them 100%

Thanks for the info John.

Uhmmm... who is Jonathan B and how do I find him?

What about their support response time? I need timely and tech savy support.

Look on the 'Contact Us' page on their website. To the right it will show a contact list with pictures by them.

Yes, their response time is very fast. The longest I've had to wait has been around an hour tops. The best part is their website... looks perfect.

have you looked at Hetzner (http://www.hetzner.de/rootserver_en.html)?

I have a server there for more than 6 month, without any problem.

I don't speak German too. They speak English.

You will only need some translation in his online services.

piccardo33,

Make sure you do a search for AlphaRed (the search box is at the top of the forum). Many have dealt with them in the past.
