Datacities - the absolute worst I've ever seen!

Support & Sales Unreachable

I've been trying to reach anyone at Datacities since VAR resellers accounts we're sold to them.

I've requested my account be cancelled and they are still charging my VISA Card each month.

I've talked to Rick who owned the Var accounts for a short time and He also has not been able to get ahold of Datacities.

What is going on and has anyone else been able to cancel or get ahold of them? As far as I'm concerned now you are ripping me off, stealing and swindling me out of 6.97 each month since I have emailed in (and submitted support tickets) several times to cancel with NO response.

I guess the next action is bank chargebacks which I'm not even sure you can do since it's a visa/debit and I really don't want to cancel and open a new account no with the bank since the card is linked to many diffferent monthly payments. A letter from my atty does NOT make sense from a cost/recovery ratio but at this point I'l about to make it my personal mission to do whatever I can to STOP Datacities and let the entire world KNOW how they treat customers.

Sorry for the rant but I've had a lot of hosts for many years and have NEVER seen such blatant BS.

If you check this CANCEL VAR RESELLER ACCOUNT user: museum NOW and STOP Charging me monthly fees for a service I've NOT been able to use since node102 wen't out of existence. I can't even get into my server because I don't know what IP it is and have NO domain name associated with the account.

Any ideas on what else to do? I absolutely HATE posting this stuff here as it's a private matter between me and the company but I CAN'T find YOU to resolve it.

Unreal.

Sorry for the rant.

If I recall correctly, Datacities is owned by Lpanel. Having used and dumped Lpanel, I'm not surprised to hear about this. They rarely answered support tickets 2 years ago, and it's pretty much the same thing now.

The only thing you can do is file a chargeback. It will hit their merchant account. After a few chargebacks, processors/accounts will start questioning why Lpanel/DC have such a high number of chargebacks an perhaps terminate their account.

I've only ever done one chargeback, and my account #'s and cards did not have to change.

Best of luck.

Hey Datacities:

OK, I've cancelled the card that you bill you piece of crap company now that it's showing charges for stuff I didn't order eg. World of Warcraft online

You'll NOT steal another dime from me!

Thanks for a wonderful experience, I will think of you fondly as I redo ALL of the monthly auto-fees associated with that card - such fun.

To be fair - Scott Gemma did reply to my email right away after I posted here telling me he is no longer associated with Datacities and that he would forward my requests to Mike & Support at DC from whom I've never gotten a response yet in MONTHS of trying.

If I didn't have such a busy schedule I'd be sure to make it my MISSION to let the world KNOW what a great responsive company you are and how well you take care of your customers.

end sarcastic rant

Like the earlier poster mentioned, you should file for a chargeback and get your money back!

I was with Varhosting a couple of years ago -- when Niyogi was there -- for about a month. The server was constantly down or nonresponsive. I bailed out after a month (Niyogi refunded my money though). I really thought they were bad then and did not think they would last so long.

Albeit a different name and different owners, apparently they are still in business, huh?

To Roj's credit, I was actually ok with VAR when it was Niyogi running things. There were a few hiccups but the server and response was ok. Then Rick got in a bit over his head and made some server moves that weren't thought out or planned for too well. The last straw was Datacities buying the VAR reseller accounts and NOT responding at ALL.

I am truly amazed at how pissed off they have made me - I'm actually a very laid back person.

As far as chargebacks, NOT possible with an ATM/Debit card according to my bank since I initially did ok Roj to take money out of the account. The only way they really wanted to proceed was with closing and oipening a new account which I was very hesitant to do with so many monthly fees linked to the card. Then in the last week 6 unauthorized charges for Blizzard (WOW) and PlayNC Europe show up so I have no option but to close the account and put credit watch into place.

CHECK YOUR BANK STATEMENTS - search Blizzard and you'll see rampant fraud. Nothing like another day or two of unpaid time fixing things.

BLIZZARD-ENT*ELECUPGRD - ALSO a POS Company IMHO - They won't reverse charges and I have to intiate fraud action through my bank.

I'm not sure if Datacities is still in business - They never responded to my new account inquirys either?

basically i been both with VAR (which was my lifes most harroving experience) and datacities as well. I have been wth datacities for close to 3 years now, i didnt had real problems, Until i have problems well support is totally crappy, they totally ignore tickets for weeks. And when they do answer is for totally un-regarded matters. But the servers themselves so far been problem free, didnt really had some MAJOR issues, as i had with VAR.

Best thing would be to file chargeback. thats the only way to get back at such companies i guess

I was with Datacities for almost six months, the worst six months of my life. Their resellers account was at a decent price, and also it would take 48-72 hours for a reply. To be honest I think its a one person operation, who's made multiple accounts and replies through those to make it seem like their is more than one person there.

Back in June i started getting domain renewals, yes it was time for some of them, but then it got interesting on several occasions from june to september i was charged 18.00 for 4 domains over a span of 8-12 days. this happened every month.

I tried to be nice, and finally I had to do some investigation work into them. I found phone numbers, addresses and nothing turned up.

But i did get let my credit card company know what was going on, and even they couldn't get a hold of them. Completely refunded.

Datacities - Better Support and Faster Response

FYI - In case anyone is still interested, the DataCities & Lpanel assets are under new ownership. You can read the press release regarding the acquisition.

Our company is in the process of cleaning things up so if you submit a ticket you WILL get a response and your issue WILL be addressed.

Btw, new owners answer emails fast. So I hope that LPanel would get a second life - we are using it and it is still the best, while lacks many market-standard features already...
