Supermicro 6015B-3V detects only 1 physical processor

I just built a new server using http://www.supermicro.com/products/s...S-6015B-3V.cfm and two Intel xeon 5345 clovertown processors.

When the server boots up the BIOS detects only 1 physical processor with 4 cores and also the OS detects the same.

Couple of things I already tried to solve the problem:
A. Upgraded the BIOS to the latest available release date of 05/30/07

B. I swapped the processors in the motherboard sockets to rule out that one of the processors was not working.

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this will be very appreciated.

Thanks,

have you tried clearing the cmos via the jumper. I know it sounds like a no brainer answer, also xeons are not hyper threaded so see if thats disabled in the bios under advanced proc settings.

Oh btw NICE SERVER, Did you assemble it or did super micro?

since there is no jumper or BIOS setting needs adjusting in order to see dual Clovertown CPUs (8-cores) on X7DBR-3 board, the only possibility left is that one of the CPU socket is bad. contact SM for nextday exchange service for superserver.

I hope supermicro's products are not going downhill. We recently had a bad batch of their X7DBE+ motherboards. 2 DOA, and 2 others needed to be returned because the BIOS didn't see the clovertown processors and gave a warning, but worked though. Issue with the stepping.

I hope this isn't a new trend with them as with the 50+ other servers with them have been excellent.

:-(

Both the processors work in CPU Socket 1 and neither of the processors work in CPU Socket 2.

I am on hold with Supermicro tech support, I will let you guys know how this goes.

Complexdrive: I installed the P version

Update: I drove down to their Fremont facility. They gave me a replacement and it did not work. Then they gave me a 3rd super server and that worked. Edward Chen in their tech support was really nice, he stayed back after 6 Pm to make sure I could go back with a working server.

I am shocked that out of 3 servers the first two had motherboard problems.

Wondering if its random or a systematic problem, since I need to order one more server. ?

out of 100+ supermicro dual socket 771 boards (X7DBE/X7DBE+/X7DBR-i/X7DBR-i+/X7DVL-E) we installed in last few months, perhaps only 2~3 needed to be returned. I believe the reliability is still there, at least it's still lot better than Tyan boards.
