    prevent download manager

Download manager software usually split files to many parts than download them at the same time. Will it makes server load higher, if yes how to limit the parts of file they can split to?

its hard to do it now unless you have some software like these download sites have. You can always limit connections.
Some of the download managers now even spoof user agent. I tried the htaccess route once and didnt work for me, I think it did some but not much. I had a few security and hacking vids and some warez site, projectw got ahold of the links and posted them on their forum, They wouldnt remove the links so I first tried hotlink protection - download managers get right by it, Then I tried htaccess I think it brought down the bandwidth about half. then I just gave up and deleted the files, for months after that I would have 1000s of 404 errors each day where they was still trying to download it.
If you happen to find a tried and true method please share Im sure there is some way you can disable partial content or something
