It's a google gag i guess.. they have a whole site with FAQ's, forum, tips etc.. someone at google spent a whole lot of time and energy working on that thing..

Aye, it was either from this past April's Fools Day, or last year (2006). I'll be the first to admit that when I first saw it, I fell for it. I was actually researching it to see how it would work.
