AWeber, GetResponse & all ezine/newsletter host affiliates please discuss/promote!

Hello!

This year, I hope to start several ezines. After significant research, it seems that outsourced 'ezine hosting' is needed. Two have emerged as having the best rates and also the best reputations:

GetResponse.com offers repeating commissions of 30% for affiliates plus 10% for sub-affiliates. Up to 10,000 subscribers, unlimited emails, $18/month monthly, $15/month semi-annually. Each extra 5,000 subscribers about $5.

AWeber.com offers repeating commissions of 20% for affiliates plus 10% for sub-affiates. Up to 10,000 subscribers, unlimited emails, $20/month monthly, $17/month semi-annually. Each extra 10,000 subscribers about $10.

I might as well find an 'affilitate' and give somebody a commission! Also I am undecided which to join. Or perhaps there is a better one? So I started this thread. Since this is a 'requests' thread, you can advertise and also politely point out weak points in the competition, if you wish.

Your personal experience will be taken seriously. However if possible, post a link to an existing forum post, webpage, or weblog that supports your opinion. Also please join my no-advertising discussion: Best ezine hosting?

Note: my latest post above said I was looking at YourMailingListProvider.com, with lower minimum fees. However, I have since decided that AWeber and GetResponse are worth the extra cost. In particular, one of their accounts can host several separate ezines. (I think...?)

PS--My ezines are about: 1. Holistic health. 2. Gifts and jewelry. If you publish related ezines, please let me know!

I do not have a link to a web page but as posted in the other thread I have had good experiences with aweber. One itemn I did not go into was domain names and content words. Certain words still get caught by AOL.

I recommend Constant Contact. It is easy to upload emails to their system and they are an all around good service.

If you do choose to use them I recommend requesting the removal the advertisement they put at the bottom of all emails. Most people don't know you can do that.

I use and recommend Aweber. I've tried GR but I don't think it is a good.

Thank you for the suggestion Signature16. Well I am not sure about this but... based on what I just read in a weblog message from a former ConstantContact user:
  • ConstantContact does not require re-opt-in for list uploads. (?)
  • If so, this is often cited as a no-no for an ezine host, because it logically results in frequent blacklisting of some clients.
  • This in turn would likely result in poor deliverability rates for all ConstantContact clients.
  • ConstantContact is much more expensive than Aweber and GetResponse.
  • However, ConstantContact is a major ezine host with a good reputation. As their name implies, they seem to have advanced tracking options for ROI (return-on-investment) etc. This can be quite valuable for increasing the profits of an already-established business.
  • I.e., ConstantContact may well be the best option for keeping in contact with existing customers and site visitors. (Who are specifically interested in your products, monthly specials, etc.) However, also is more expensive, and any other ezine host probably can do the same 'adequately.' Also, ConstantContact is not perhaps the best option for a large 'content-based' ezine that seeks to reach people beyond your direct contacts. (Or so it seems to me at this time.)
