* My domain was hacked at namecheap

Today I checked list of my domains & found that 1 of my domains was put to other account. ( check via whois.ws & the info of domain is stranger )
I wonder which department I can contact to get my domain back.
It's still in namecheap but not available in my control panel.

I'm in business with namecheap since 2005 & happy with them but this first trouble. I haven't received any emails let me know my domain was gone.

Give me your advice plz.

It could be just a technical glitch but you'd never know. Namecheap is a well known and trusted domain seller. But I fear more that your account might have been compromised so drop an e-mail to them immediately.

Is it possible the domain name expired and was subsequently re-registered to someone else?

In any case, contact Namecheap and provide as many details as possible.

Thats weird.Cos for my case, when I tried to transfer my domain from ipmirror.com to namecheap.com, they asked for some code which I need to get from ipmirror.com . I had to send my verification printed and fax to them before they issue me with the code to transfer the site successfully to namecheap.

Also, Namecheap will send you another mail ( the mail you register when you sign up for the account) to actually confirm the transaction process.

Like martymart said, it might be a technical glitch. Unless the hacker managed to hack both ur namecheap and e-mail account ?

I sent email at 6:30AM & get reply at 7:10AM at the same this day.

Wonderful Domain name seller, this is the message I received from supporter:

Quote:
Hello,
The domain was pushed to another account on 2/10/2007. We went ahead and transfered it back to the original account.

Oh my god, my domain was out of my account more than 3 months & I didn't know. Lucky me : )

Thanks for your helps & thanks for namecheap support.

Wow very weird. I had this happen, but long ago on RF. I've never had issues with Namecheap.

Namecheap are very quick at answering problems via e-mail in my experience. Just get in contact with them and I'm sure they will be able to help.

A hard combination should give extra protection. Something like "Private3883pASSWORD". Ehehe.

Well I don't know about others but since we are talking about passwords I use random passwords for every email account and every domain account. To manage all of these I use KeePass which also will generate random passwords so take a look at that program. I keep email/bank/server/domain information in it.
