Overselling basically means to sell beyond the means of delivery. Specifically to the web hosting business, overselling refers to the ability to sell more resources (bandwidth and disk space) than available with an assumption that the resources will be mostly underutilized

To me, it sounds like a bad thing. Why promote it in a listing?

Is it an honesty angle where you are admiting why the offer has huge allocations, or has overselling become part of the norm, where where web hosting companies are able to offer it once average usage falls lower than availability?

Most reseller account users don't use anywhere near what they are allowed but they like to feel that they can sell something and then if they get anywhere near their limit thats when they'd buy more space. You can look at it either way.
