cut down post time limits

Lower the 60 second wait between posting from 60 down to like 20 or something.

I use the forums at digital point, and they have 30 second waits. It does them no harm...

Are you sure though? How many moderators do they have sitting there deleting all the extra spam that could be made...

true, but heavier infractions could be done.

If i was going to spam, a 60 second wait would do me no harm. I just write all my spam in a new tab in my browser, and press reply when all the time limits are down.

As an example... I know that whenever I've dealt with spam posts, there are usually 5 posts made by the user before it's caught up.

I believe the limit is 90 seconds (although that might have changed)... and so at 5 posts, that takes 450 seconds (7.5 minutes) to post.

On that basis, lowering the limit to 60 seconds would allow 7-8 posts in the same timeframe; and down to 30 seconds, that would 'allow' 15 posts.

As you said, people just open them in tabs. But the difference is how many posts they can get through before we can step in and react Obviously the number of posts that get through depends on the individual moderator and their reaction time, but, the same principles would apply.

As soon as we can make it different for different member groups, we will.

perhaps new members get a higher waiting time. Then members like me with more than 400 posts and have been here over a year get a longer time.

It just isn't possible right now. But it's in the works!
