What does it take to get a PR1???

Apparently very little because I have a website that has been up for a year with absolutely no SEO or meta tag modification of any sort. And it has a few links back to it from an article I wrote and when I looked at it this weekend it had a PR1. So I did a quick SEO mod to it just to experiment a little bit with it. I have been trying to get a site past a PR2 and two others higher than a PR3. And this one I didn't do anything to and it is a PR1. Go figure.

Heh, google guards their secrets, nobody truly knows what exactly determines pagerank.

Grats on the rank though.

One think i can tell you that I've learned, you may or may not know...

Check the domain Google lists on their search results for your website.

If it includes "www" BE SURE to always use www. when developing and linking your website, and if possible you want others to use "www" in their links back to you.

Sorry, but am I missing something here? I thought PR1 was NOT something that's worth raising any eyebrow, no?

Google do not.

Pagerank is entirely to do with the number/quality of pages that link to your domain. The more of these pages the higher your pagerank gained from these pages and the higer the pages pr the higher the gain that you recieve from these links.

I found the first post to be funny. I don think we will ever know exactly what it takes to get a PR1. SEO does help in the long run though.

PageRank starts at 0 for new domains.

The PR 1 is probably due to the backlinks that you have. I think Google takes traffic into considertion too.

I read it somewhere, that google updated ranks for domains which had no PR, few months back. So, I considered google gives PR1 to most domains after a while, they're indexed, on gaining few back links.

I think the backlinks has a lot to do with it. Several weeks ago, I spotted a valid PR7 domain on eBay for sell. The seller says that the reason for the high PR is that the site is linked to a very high PR education site. (But that is what he said - may not be the real factor.)

I think submitting to web directories and exchanging links with related topic sites help. Also, trading links with high PR with similar subject content, may yield better results.
