100% Uptime


i think in dedicated servers you can put second server and if first server gone down second server autometically start working.

is this possible in VPS too. I have four VPS

You'll need a loadbalancing solution, like LVS. Not many providers offer it. It'll probably also cost you a pretty penny, so if you don't have a lot to spend on it, you're not going to get a long way without the required experience to do it yourself.

Also keep in mind that, even with a redundant load balanced solution (load balancers being redundant too), you're not getting a 100% uptime guarantee. You'll be able to get very close to it, but 100% is technically impossible.

I'd argue that statistically you are better off getting another VPS/server at a completely different geographical location and using DNS-based failover. With a load balancing solution you're still hosed in the event of a DC failure.

check zone.net, they have an enterprise d package that they'll setup the loadbalancing for you between the two VPSs.

Load balancing is not necessarily within the same datacenter, can also be done on geographically dispersed locations.

Good load balancers cost in the mid-hundreds (i.e. ~5xx).
